Morning, hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We have another fabulous challenge for you over at the Love to Create Challenge Blog where the theme is Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes.

I brayered the background of the card with Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint, dried with a heat tool and then placed a Donna Downey Bubbles stencil over the top and applied Magenta, Magenta Shade and Magenta Extra Dark PanPastels over the stencil. I also added some random stamping to the circles using Carabelle stamps.

I then placed the Donna Downey Silhouette onto the backdrop and applied Black Coarse Pearl Medium PanPastel around the edges and then removed the Silhouette. I added some random machine stitching for added interest.

I added a circlar piece of card to one side of the card (a piece from a previous project), coloured and stamped as in the previous step. I also added some scratchy paint lines, applying the paint with an old credit card.

I stamped the Visible Image sentiment onto white card, coloured with PanPastels, adding Black Coarse Pearl to the edges of each of the words and then added to the card.

Spring's greatest Joy!

I cannot believe another week has flown by, where is the year going!! Today is my weekly post for Artistic Outpost and today I am showcasing the fabulous Springtime stamp set.

I created an aperture in the centre of my card to showcase the fabulous imagery. I applied some scribbles of drawing gum to the centre and allowed to dry. I then coloured the central area with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink and also added a touch of Brilliant Red Brusho, spritzed lightly with water and dried with my heat tool. I then rubbed away the drawing gum to reveal the white scribbles, love this technique!

I stamped the two children with Black Archival Ink, masked off the image and then stamped the ornate fence.

I added a few delicate splatters of Fired Brick Distress Paint for a further layer of interest and also included the fabulous sentiment from the Springtime stamp set. Scratchy paint lines have also been added for a touch of texture.

 I have also decorated the inside of my card with the focal image and a few paint splatters and scratches.

I began my card by brayering the background with Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint using only a light touch and leaving some white areas visible. I then placed a stencil onto the backdrop and applied Magenta PanPastel over the stencil, then I applied a second layer of colour using PanPastel Magenta Shade and then onto Magenta Extra Dark. I love the layers of colour you can apply with PanPastels.

My focal image from Carabelle Studio has been stamped onto Stampbord which has first been coloured with Distress Paint, dried with a heat gun and then stamped with Black Archival Ink. I added  Black Coarse Pearl Medium around the edges for definition. Once I was happy I then used the scraper tool to add a few white highlights before applying a coat of Matt Medium and then a random coat of DecoArt Crackle Glaze.

I coloured a scrap piece of card with Magenta PanPastel and then stamped my sentiment and cut out, adding Black Coarse Pearl PanPastel around the edges of the sentiment for definition.

I applied some Carbon Black Antiquing Cream to the Crackle Glaze and wiped away the excess with a baby wipe. I love how the Antiquing Cream highlights the cracks.

I also added random stamping to the stencilled areas for a further layer of interest.

Eileen Hull Art with Heart Challenge

Time for a brand new challenge with Eileen Hull's Art with Heart Challenge and this month our theme is "Make it 3D", nice easy challenge.

I have created three projects for this months theme; I have decorated a book using Eileen Hull's Passport Book, I have created a box using Eileen's Recipe Card and Label Die along with the Make-it 3D Die and finally I also made an oval box using Eileen's 3D die, fantastic die for making lots of items 3D. I have combined all my makes with the DecoArt Media products.

I began by die cutting the Passport Book from mountboard or good thick card; I stamped the front cover with an image from IndigoBlu (her name is Jane), which I stamped wth Black Archival Ink, I then applied Crackle Paste randomly around the face and allowed to dry completely. Once completely dry I then painted around the crackle areas and around her face with DecoArt Burnt Umber Fluid Acrylic and allowed to dry. I repeated this process for each of the pages, applying Crackle Paste randomly to the pages, allowing to dry and then painting with Burnt Umber Fluid Acrylic. Once completely dry I then used my finger to apply vaseline randomly around each of the pages, front and back covers and the spine. I then painted each of the die cut elements with a top coat of Cobalt Turquoise Hue Fluid Acrylic and allowed to dry. Once dry, I gently rubbed away at the areas where I applied the Vaseline; the top layer of paint will not stick to the vaseline areas and therefore show the Burnt Umber colour underneath; adding to the aged feel.

On my 3D box and Recipe Card 3D Box I painted each of them and then stamped the IndigoBlu image onto tissue and adhered the tissue to the box; I did crumple the tissue lightly to add texture to the design.

I also added frames to each of my pieces, highlighting one of the eyes on the focal image. Again I painted each of the frames in the same way, adding touches of highlight with White Fire Wax.

I also added an old pen nib to the focal image along with inspiring Chitchat stickers to each of my creations. Of course I did have to add a touch of rust to my designs too; adding a layer of Texture Sand Paste first, allowing to dry, then painting with a coat of Burnt Umber and applying layers of Quinacridone Gold Fluid Acrylic, dabbing the paint on and allowing to dry then adding a further layer. I also added delicate splatters of Vermilion to all my pieces, I love the splatters of orange against the turquoise and rusty elements.

I added a square frame to the Recipe 3D box I created and once again added rusty elements, paint splatters and a pen nib.

I machine stitched the Passport Book together, I love adding stitching to my pieces and I also included a pen nib, brass butterfly and leaf charm too. I adore the texture on these pieces!

Rather than add pictures for every page of my book I have done a video to show you each piece in more detail, hope you like! On each of my pages I have used the Bubbles Background from IndigoBlu, highlighting some of the bubbles with crackle and that orange paint once again.

Product Focus - Artistic Outpost

Morning and welcome to our monthly Product Focus with Artistic Outpost. This month we are focusing on stamps in the NATURE and OUTDOORS category.

I made a selection of projects this time around using one of my favourite stamp sets BIRDS OF A FEATHER. I have had a dabble at doing a video for you, simply showing the projects in more detail and highlighting how I use the Drawing Gum (the video is at the bottom of this post). I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Pamellia for all her help and ecouragement in creating my first little video.

I have used two sets of products to colour all my backgrounds, Color Bursts and DecoArt Media Shimmer Misters. The video highlights the Color Bursts.

On each of my pieces I have added a layer of Clear Rock Candy Crackle, applying in thick and thinner layers randomly around my pieces and then highlighting all the cracks with DecoArt Raw Umber Antiquing Cream. Before applying the Clear Rock Candy, I applied a coat of DecoArt Matte Medium to seal the layers below; this also allows me to draw around the imagery with a Pitt Pen and smudge with my finger to create a shadow.

This piece showcases perfectly the finer and larger cracks the Clear Rock Candy gives and the added texture to the design.

I created an accordion card to fit in my matchbox, tiny gift cards, coordinated card and my matchbox with mini easel sitting on the top.

Morning, hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We have another fabulous challenge for you over at the Love to Create Challenge Blog where the theme is Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes.

 I created a mixed media card using one of my favourite images from Stampers Anonymous. The backgroundhas been coloured with PanPastels Diarylide Yellow and Orange.

I stamped the focal image with Black Archival Ink and then used a mask before stamping the number in the background. I added further dimension to the wings and hat, leaving these stamped pieces in white to give a contrast to the background.

I added a touch of stencilling to the background applying black texture paste through a stencil. I also added a few scratchy lines using the end of an old credit card along with a few delicate black paint splatters.

I also added Imagine and DREAM to the bottom of my card using Visible Image stamps.

It's time for my weekly post for Artistic Outpost and today I am focusing on the Wander and Dream stamp set.

I placed a circular piece of paper in the centre of my card to act as a mask. I then added Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade to the Stripes Layering Stencil, simply press the inkpads directly onto the stencil and then spritz with water. Lay the Stencil onto the card and dab with a piece of kitchen towel and then remove and dry with a heat tool. Repeat to add detail to the whole of the background.

I then began work on the central aperutre, applying Wild Honey and a touch of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink the the circular area. I used Wendy Vecchi's Frames to create this and placed the mask over the background area to mask off my coloured background.

I stamped the gent into the centre of my aperture using Black Archival Ink, stamped him once again onto scrap paper, cut it out and then used this as a mask. Witth the mask in place I then stamped the desert in the background. I then added the sentiment 'DREAM BIG'again from the Wander and Dream stamp set.

I added delicate paint splatters to the central aperture using Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint and I then added scratchy lines to the background by simply pressing my acrylic block onto my Black Archival Inkpad and then pressing onto the card. I love adding layers to my designs.
