Rustic Seasonal Card

There is still time to enter the draw for my blog candy, the winner will be drawn late on New Years Eve. You can leave a comment HERE for your chance to win.

Now onto this weeks DT creation for Artistic Outpost.
I have used the SNOWY WOODS plate this week to create a rustic Christmas card.
The background has been decorated using Tim Holtz Hollybough layering stencil, applying White Embossing Paste through the stencil and then colouring with Distress Stains.
I added a small poinsettia cut from Kraft Glassine to add to the rustic feel.
To highlight the texture from the embossing I also applied Wax over the raised areas.
I also die cut a tree to add to my card for further interest again coloured with Distress Stains, with touches of background stamping added to the tree.

ARTSY CANVAS

BLOG CANDY available HERE.

I've created a canvas this week using the Henna Rangoli stamp from the Singles range from Creative Expressions.
I have created an artsy canvas this week and included a WORKSHEET with step by steps which you can print HERE.
The background of the canvas has been coloured with Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Paint.  The Henna Rangoli image has been stamped onto white card using Aquamarine and Sepia Archival Inks and layered together to give a dimensional two tone centrepiece.

Victorian Metal Corners have been added for further interest.
Background stamping has been added using the background stamp from Tim Holtz Classics 4 Stamp Set using Salty Ocean Distress Paint.
I have die cut two butterflies using the Couture Creations 3-in-1 Butterfly Set and then dipped the butterflies into hot Beeswax using a Melt Pot. Enchanted Gold Gilding Wax has then been applied to the Beeswax which highlights the wonderful texture and detail.

WINTER CANVAS

BLOG CANDY still on offer HERE.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS. Hope you are all enjoying the festive season. The Simon Says Stamp Monday Design Team are hoping to inspire you today with projects that feature some Winter ideas.
I decided to create a winter canvas this week to celebrate my winter garden. I love my garden throughout the year including the winter, in fact I think the winter season is probably far more important. The trees and branches and skeletons of the spent flowers take on a more significant role in the Winter and I really appreciate it all. I particularly love the bare tree branches in winter when they are covered in snow or frost and this was my inspiration for my piece today.

  1. Cover the canvas with tissue that has been crumpled. Apply Multi-Medium Matt onto the canvas and then press the tissue onto the glue and set aside to dry. Trim away any excess tissue paper.
  2. Place the Hero Arts Elegant Pine stencil onto the canvas and apply White Embossing Paste over the stencil using a palette knife and set aside to dry.
  3. Once completely dry apply Sky Fresco Finish Paint over the canvas, I applied with a piece of Cut 'n' Dry Foam adding touches of Inky Pool paint over the branches.
  4. Die cut the birds from white card using Sizzix Birds On A Wire die and then colour the birds with Weathered Wood Distress Ink, applying Black Soot around the edges of each bird for definition. Stamp text onto each bird using the background stamp from the Classics 9 Stamp Set using Black Archival Ink. Affix the birds to the top of the canvas.
  5. Stamp the sentiment onto white card (I love this sentiment, a very kind gift from my dear friend and fellow team member Suzz) using Black Archival Ink and affix to the bottom left hand side of the canvas.
  6. Melt Beeswax in a Melt Pot using a Project Pan and then brush Beeswax over the canvas. I love the texture this gives to the canvas. Apply Beeswax randomly around the edges for added texture and dimension and then apply Treasure Gold White Fire around the edges to highlight the wonderful texture.
  7. Apply White Fire and Sapphire Wax over the tree to add shimmer and to highlight the tree branches and then dry brush Black Distress Paint over the tree branches to add to that frosty, cold, wintery feeling.
  8. Die cut three Bitty Blossoms using the Spellbinders die, colour with Sky paint, roll to create the flowers and then dip into the Beeswax. Once cool apply White Fire Wax over the edges of the flowers.
  9. Add two Winter Chitchat stickers for added interest, colouring lightly with Weathered Wood Distress Ink.
This canvas is so tactile and I love the birds on the wire, I often think of the birds in my garden during the Winter season and always make sure they are well fed!
I love how the Beeswax has settled in between the branches of the tree, really adds wonderful texture to my design.
Dry brushing with black paint reminds me of the dead branches that I have in abundance in my garden during the Winter months.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and BEST WISHES for 2014.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support during 2013.
To celebrate Christmas I have created a card using the Artistic Outpost Snowy Woods Plate. The background of my card has been created with Distress Stains Tarnished Brass and Antiqued Bronze. I have also added a poinsettia using Kraft Glassine again adding touches of Distress Stain to the Poinsettia to coordinate with my backdrop.
This has been my favourite image to use this year. I have added the image to an ornate frame die cut from black card adding Distress Stain to the edges of the frame. I have also added white pencil crayon to his beard.

Now onto my DT piece for Creative Expressions:

This week I am using the fabulous Henna Petals stamp from the Singles range from Creative Expressions.
I have created a square card stamping the background with the Henna Petals image using Aquamarine Archival Ink and then matting the design onto Teal Foundations Card.
I stamped the Henna Petals image 5 times onto White Foundations Card and cut out the layers and then adhered together to create a dimensional centrepiece which I then added to a piece of Teal Foundations Card and added to the centre of the card front.
Three butterflies have been added to the card cut from the die from the Butterfly Couture Creations 3-in-1 Set. I melted some Beeswax into a Project Pan using a Melt Pot and then dipped each butterfly into the hot Beeswax. Once cool I applied Enchanted Gold Gilding Wax over the butterfly to highlight the wonderful texture and design. 'With Love' has been added to the top of the card using the Simple Sayings Stamp Set from Tim Holtz.

Christmas Traditions

I took inspiration from Tim's 12 tags of 2013 for today's card. I have not participated in Tim's tags all year so I thought as I have a little time I would give it a go.
I decided to create a card and combine this with my AO weekly post. The background is created with Antique Linen Distress Ink as I did not have the Distress Stain. I swiped the inkpad across my background and then spritzed with water and then added the stencilling using Tim's Harlequin stencil using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I distressed the edges and added Potting Soil Archival Ink around the edges for definition.
I have used my favourite image from Artistic Outpost from the Snowy Woods Plate and added him to a bauble which I have coloured with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I also added some random stamping using the Ephemera Backgrounds plate. Chitchat stickers have also been used to add 'Christmas Traditions' to my card.
My poinsettia is a little different from Tim's in that I added more layers for a fuller poinsettia, I love it.

Thank You

This is the final challenge of 2013 for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and we hope you'll join us! The challenge this week is a simple one; use a stamp! What better way to end the year than stamping it out in style. Background, sentiment, big or small, all stamping is welcome this week.

I've created a THANK YOU card this week to thank you, all our readers for joining in our challenges for 2013, I personally have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your fabulous artwork, so a huge THANK YOU from me.
I created a 5" x 7" card blank and then cut a piece of white card slightly smaller than the card front and spritzed with water.
Apply Fired Brick, Broken China and and a touch of Spiced Marmalade Distress Paint to a Non-Stick Craft Sheet and then mop up the colour with the white card.
Pick up Broken China Distress Paint onto the edge of a Craft Scraper and add scratchy lines of paint to the background for further interest.
Apply Broken China Distress Ink to the edges of the coloured card.
Apply Broken China Distress Paint to the Hero Arts Number Pattern Stamp and then stamp onto the coloured card.
Using the same colours to stamp as used in the background gives tone on tone stamping, something I love and also gives a further layer of interest.
Stamp the Carved Bird twice onto the coloured card using Watering Can Archival Ink. I have also added some random machine stitching for further interest.
Add Beeswax to the Melt Pot, set the thermostat to the UTEE setting and allow to melt. Once melted turn the thermostat down to approximately 120/140 setting on the thermostat. Remember to use a project pan for melting Beeswax. Brush the Beeswax over the stamped design and also add Beeswax randomly to the edges of the card for added texture.
Once the Beeswax has dried, which is almost immediately then apply White Fire Treasure Wax to the edges to highlight the texture.
I love how the stamping using the Distress Paint is visible over the stamped image and I always love to add random stitching to a piece of art.
Paint an Enameled tag with Distress Paints and then add 'imagine' using Remnant Rubs Words. Attach the tag to the card with a Jump Ring attached to a Hinge Clip.
I have also added hearts cut from white card using the Simon Says Stamp Large Heart Set Craft Die, colouring each heart with Broken China Distress Ink and adding background stamping to each heart using the Hero Arts Number Pattern Stamp.

To complete I stamped THANK YOU onto white card with Watering Can Archival Ink and then coloured with Broken China Distress Ink.

For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog and take a look at my fellow team members they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

FROM THE HEART

Time for my Creative Expressions post and once again I am using the fabulous Henna Mosaic stamp, part of the Singles range from Creative Expressions.
My card is 5" x 7" and I have stamped the background with the Henna Mosaic stamp using Aquamarine Archival Ink, a favourite colour of mine. I have then matted the stamped image onto Teal Foundations Card.
The Henna Mosaic image has been stamped onto White Foundations Card three times using Aquamarine Archival Ink and each layer cut out and adhered together to create a dimensional piece. I have then added this to the card along with coordinated ribbon and some natural twine. A coordinated button has been added to the centre.
I then melted some Lapis Sapphire Ultra Thick Embossing Crystals into a Melt Pot and then dipped my wooden bird into the hot UTEE. Once cool I added to the top of my card.
I also poured some of the hot UTEE into a heart cookie cutter, working on a Non-Stick Craft Sheet and then added to the card along with three Chitchat Stickers.
I have used one of the sentiments from Tim Holtz Simple Sayings Stamp Set and added to the bottom of the card.
