Eileen Hull Mini Blog Hop - WINNER

Eileen Hull is currently on the Paper Trail, driving the whole width of America and travelling up into Canada in her now famous Scotty, a 1976 Serra camper van! You can find out where Eileen will be visiting and teaching classes by visiting her website www.eileenhull.com or by following her adventures on Facebook where she will be doing regular Facebook Live videos.

Following on from the hugely successful release of Eileen's ScoreBoards XL Journal Die and Katie Skilton's sell out shows on the Craft Channel, Hochanda, here in the UK, myself, Jenny Marples and Anne Redfern had a mini blog hop during September to celebrate the success of Eileen's XL Journal Die, both here in the UK and elsewhere in the world.

It is now finally time to announce the winner from my entrants.

I used Random Number Generator to select my winner.

This corresponds with Rachel Fisher's comment. Congratulations Rachel, if you could contact me via email (tracy@craft-addicts.co.uk) I will arrange to have your prize sent to you. I hope you enjoy using the fabulous Journal Die and I can't wait to see what you create.

A Vintage Journey Tag Friday

Welcome to my Tag Friday post with A Vintage Journey.
I opted to decorate one of Tim Holtz medium Etcetera tags. This was fun to create as there was no pressure just a few hours to simply create for the fun of it.
I coated the tag with a layer of Gesso to give me a good base and then painted the tag with Broken China Distress Paint adding touches of Gesso to lighten.
I applied Crackle Paste over the Screwed Layering Stencil which I thought was perfect for a masculine piece. I then used Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon to add a further layer of colour, blending with my finger and a damp baby wipe.
I added corrugated card, which I always think adds wonderful texture to a piece and I added a few touches of Broken China Distress Paint with my finger along with a light blend of Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I also added a touch of background stamping using the background stamp from the On The Farm stamp set and Potting Soil Archival Ink.
I applied Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon around the edges of the tag which gives definition to the design and draws the eye in to the focal imagery. I also included Nailheads for added texture and dimension along with a few Remnant Rubs for added layered interest.
I had a vintage clock face in my stash and incorporated this into my design which was perfect for my Paper Doll image to sit. I added Clippings Stickers behind for further interest and also included a Quote Chip. A few black paint splatters add a further layer to my design.
I also incorporated a couple of Ruler Pieces and a hanger from Tim's Idea-ology range. I also added some design tape and some scratchy lines to the edge of my tag using an old credit card and black paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Eileen Hull Needle Book

A little project created just for fun using Eileen Hull's Needle Book Die.
I combined Eileen's Needle Book Die with Visible Image Stamps and Tim Holtz paints and stencil.
I die cut my book from mountboard.
Lightly brayered Squeezed Lemonade and Weathered Wood Distress Paint onto the background of the book, adding a light layer of paint to both the inside and outside of the book, leaving some white spaces visible.
I applied Hickory Smoke Distress Ink to Tim Holtz Numeric Layering Stencil, pressing the inkpad directly onto the stencil and then spritzed with water.
Lay the Stencil ink side down onto the die cut piece and dab with a piece of kitchen towel and then remove the stencil.
Dry the ink with a heat tool.
As I used an eye stamp on the cover I thought Braille Paper as the pages was the perfect paper to add to the inside.
I added the eye stamp to both the front and back covers and added some white highlights with a Posca Paint Pen.
I added a Tim Holt\ Monocle over the eye to embellish and added Remnant Rubs 'look within' to the Monocle.
Tim Holtz Eye Chart Layering Stencil was used to to add letters flowing from the bottom of the eye image. I also added a vintage pen nib for added interest.
I added a little red heart I cut from paper along with some delicate red splatters of paint.
This was a fun little piece to create.

Thanks for stopping by. Tracy x x

A Vintage Journey Challenge - Altered Art

Welcome, today sees the start of a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and this month our host is the lovely Alison who had this to say about her challenge:

"We'd llike you to get creative with recycled objects in a vintage; shabby, mixed media; art journalling; industrial, timeworn or steampunk style, . Turn something unloved and unwanted into a work of art. Try some repurposing - make something new out of something old, or incorporate an unwanted object into your artwork. Think tin cans and jars, old bottles, toothbrushes - the more inventive the better"

Our sponsor this month is Simon Says Stamp who are offering a $25 Gift Voucher for one randomly drawn winner.

I decided to alter a sardine tin which I had saved for a just in case moment and this was one of those moments!
I cleaned the sardine tin inside and out and then sanded the outside of the tin.
I opted to colour the sardine tin with Alcohol Inks Ginger and Rust.
I have to say once I had finished colouring the tin my hands were absolutely covered in ink!
I cut a piece of thick card to fit the inside of the tin and then covered the card with vintage paper from my collection which I then coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink and then spritzed with water. I applied the ink with an Ink Blending Tool.
I dried the card and then added creases here and there to age further.
I added further detail to the background using Tim Holtz Crossed Layering Stencil and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink. I then spritzed the stencilling with water and allowed the water to sit for a few moments and then dried with a heat tool.
I attached some chicken wire using my Tiny Attacher.
I die cut six ravens using the Tim Holtz Feathers and Ravens die, cut from white card.
I adhered all the Ravens together to create one dimensional Raven.
I added the decorated card panel to the inside of the tin and added a Tim Holtz Baseboard behind for added interest.
I painted the Raven with Black Paint and highligted the embossed areas with a touch of wax. I also added house numbers, coloured with Alcohol Inks to the inside of the tin.
I gave the Raven a hat and also added a Remnant Rub to his body. I also included two small bottles to the inside of the tin which were also coloured with Alcohol Inks and Remnant Rubs also added.
Skulls were added to the outside of the tin sitting on a little cake stand painted with black paint. One skull has been added to a small bottle.
These small sardine tins make perfect shadow boxes.
I had some plastic halloween fence type pieces which I also added to the stand.
I added a quote chip to the top of my piece along with three skull beads.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your creations this month.

Thank you to Simon Says Stamp, our sponsor this month.
