Fashioned Embroidery Hoop

I am showcasing the fabulous Vintage Fashion stamp set once again from Artistic Outpost.

I decided to do an altered embroidery hoop this week, which I thought was a perfect fit for the imagery and once again I have gone for a UK/London theme. The background is a piece of Tim Holtz Correspondence Paper Stash which I added to a thicker piece of card to make it more rigid and able to take any paint and sprays I added in the next stages. I then spritzed the background lightly with Hickory Smoke Distress Spray Stain and dried with a heat tool. The embroidery hoop itself was painted with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Dark Grey Value 3 and I then added delicate splatters and scratches with an old credit card using DecoArt Fluid Acrylic Cadmium Red Hue.

I added some Correspondence Tissue Tape across the centre of the panel for a further layer of interest and added a small stamped Union Jack from the Loverly London stamp set, which I coloured with Distress Markers Faded Jeans and Fired Brick Distress Markers; applying them directly to the stamp.

I stamped the background stamp from the Vintage Fashion stamp set onto a piece of Correspondence Paper Stash using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and then over stamped with the elegant lady in Black Archival Ink and then dried with my heat tool. I added the stamped piece to a Tim Holtz Foundary Frame which I coloured randomly with my finger using Cadmium Red Hue Fluid Acrylic and dried with a heat tool.

LONDON text from the Loverly London stamp set was stamped on to the background panel; adding the text Fashion below from the Vintage Fashion stamp set, both stamped with Black Archival Ink. I added delicate splatters of Cadmium Red Hue to the background along with more scratchy lines.

The three bodice images were stamped onto Correspondence paper, cut out and added to the hoop; adding shading around each bodice with a Hickory Smoke Distress Marker; scribbling the marker onto a non-stick craft sheet and picking up the ink with a water brush.

I love how all the layers are visible below all the paints and inks and papers.

London Fashion

I am showcasing the Vintage Fashion stamp set this week from Artistic Outpost.

I decided to create a tent card this week using the Vintage Fashion imagery to create a London Fashion style card, very patriotic! I created a 4" x 6" card blank which I covered with Tim Holtz Correspondence Paper Stash and then die cut an arch from the front panel using Our Daily Bread Cathedral Window and Border Die.  I added a touch of shading to all the edges of the card using Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. I used the die cut shape left from cutting out the aperture at the front to the inside of the tent card.

I added background stamping to the back panel using the background stamp from the Vintage Fashion stamp set, stamping with Ground Espresso Distress Ink and I then added the elegant lady over the top of the background stamping using Black Archival Ink. The little Union Jack Flag is from the Loverly London stamp set; applying Distress Markers Faded Jeans and Fired Brick directly to the stamp and then stamping onto the background. I also added machine stitching for added interest and texture.

The Correspondence Paper Stash also had a Union Jack design so I stamped three of the bodice images onto the paper and cut out; adding to thicker card to make them more sturdy and then added them to the tent card.  I also added one of the sentiments to the inside, stamped onto white card and coloured with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. Adding delicate splatters of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Cadmium Red Hue.

I added the 'Fashion' text to the inside of the tent card again stamped onto Correspondence Paper. I added delicate splatters of Cadmium Red Hue to the inside panel, I love the pops of red.

I added LONDON to the inside panel using the stamp from the Loverly London stamp set and I also added a touch more random machine stitching. I also added scratchy lines of paint using an old credit card for added interest.

I added two more of the small Union Jacks to the outside of the tent card.

I would like to add this to the Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge which this month is Anything Goes as long as you use a stamp.

Fashion Fades, Only Style Remains The Same.

I am showcasing one of the stamp sets from the new release, the Vintage Fashion stamp set from Artistic Outpost.

I have opted for a vintage feel to this piece decorating the background with Vintage Photo Distress Ink; applying the ink directly to a non-stick craft sheet and then spritzing with water and mopping up the beads of ink with the card and then drying with a heat tool. I then dabbed the card back into the remaining ink and dried with a heat tool to add layers of colour.

I applied DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Carbon Black to the lid from one of my containers and pressed the inked lid onto my background, repeating three times and then dried with a heat tool.  Each circle was then painted with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Titanium White and once again dried with a heat tool and I then coloured each circle with Gelatos, blending the colours with my finger. Imagery from the Vintage Fashion stamp set was then stamped into each of the circles using Black Archival Ink and then dried with a heat tool to prevent any smudging. I stamped a piece of scrap card with the background stamp using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and then stamped the bodice over the text using Black Archival Ink; I love how the text is visible over the bodice! I also included a piece of burlap ribbon behind for added texture.

I also used the background stamp from the Vintage Fashion stamp set to add random stamping, using Vintage Photo Distress Ink for a tone on tone effect. Random machine stitching has also been added for a further layer of interest.

More layers of stamping have been added to the top corner, once again using the background stamp, this time stamping once with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then a second time with Ground Espresso Ink; both layers of stamping clearly visible. I love adding layers to my designs!

I also stamped the inside of my card with the bodice imagery, using Black Archival Ink to echo the design on the front.

New Release from Artistic Outpost

We have some fabulous new releases this week from Artistic Outpost. All the details can also be seen on the Artistic Outpost Blog.

My first piece is created using the fabulous Vintage Fashion stamp set, a trio of pieces with a real vintage feel to them; each one coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I created two small suitcases using Eileen Hull's Suitcase die which I coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Ink; applying the ink to a non-stick craft sheet and then picking up the ink with the die cut and then drying with a heat tool. I then dipped the die cut into any remaining ink and dried once again. Vintage Photo Distress Ink was then applied to the edges to darken and add definition.

The bodice was then stamped onto each of the Suitcases using Black Archival Ink and I also added background stamping using the text stamp from the Vintage Fashion stamp set using Ground Espresso Distress Ink.

I created an accordion which fits inside the Suitcase, again coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I stamped the focal images with Black Archival Ink and then overstamped with the background stamp using Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I also included some random machine stitching for added interest.

Circles have also been included using the top from one of my paints; applying paint to the lid and then stamping with the lid. Each circle was then painted with Titanium White DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic and dried with a heat tool. I then applied colour to each of the circles using my Gelatos, blending with my finger. Stamping has also been added inside each circle.

I love using stamps, inks and paints to add several layers of interst to my pieces and the machine stitching adds a touch of texture.

The second of the new releases is "Go Team"

I continued with the vintage theme again using Vintage Photo Distress Ink but this time I applied the Distress Ink to a piece of acetate, spritzed lightly with water and then dabbed the acetate onto my card. Using the Distress Inks this way means I can apply the Ink exactly where I want it and still achieve that watercolour effect. I then dried the ink with a heat tool.

I stamped the focal image with Black Archival Ink and then applied Raw Sienna DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic to a paint lid and stamped the lid over the focal image. I then added shading to the circle using a Gelato.

I added 'TOUCHDOWN' to the bottom of my card and also included some scratchy lines with an old credit card using Raw Sienna Fluid Acrylic and added delicate paint splatters using Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic.

The third and final release for this quarter is "Toy Emporium" and I will be showcasing this stamp set over the coming weeks so stay tuned!
