Mixed Media Crow

Hi and welcome, today I have a project I created just for fun using Tim Holtz products.
I opted to decorate one of Tim's Framed Panels. I knew I wanted to incorporte his Raven from his new Stamp Set Raven's. I used it as a Crow in my artwork as artistic licence and all that!
To begin I took a piece of Tim Holz hessian and added a piece of Etcetera Paper Stash onto the hessian and machine stitched into place. I then added some vintage papers to the background for added interest, adhereing with Matt Medium and also adding a coat of Matt Medium over the top.
Once I had added the layers of paper I then used a palette knife and added some Crackle Paste randomly around the background, just touches here and there. Once the Crackle was completely dry I then added layers of paint, Weathered Wood and Frayed Burlap, adding a little paint at a time, drying a little and then wiping away some of the paint with a baby wipe so that the background text was still visible.
I then stamped the Raven or in my case I used as a Crow with Black Archival Ink, using the Stamp Platform so that I could keep adding layers of black ink to get a really sharp impression over the many layers of paper and paint. I then machine stitched around the raven, adding random stitching, again giving another layer of interest.
I also added a couple of index clips and random red splatters of paint. I also machine stitched a Transparent Tile to the background and also included a vintage pen nib. To add further definition I used the Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon around the edges of the papers and smudged with my finger.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x x
