Creativity Takes Courage

We have five Friday's this month so that means A Vintage Journey have a fabulous Tag Friday post for you today.
I decorated an Etcetera Tag from Tim Holtz
  1. Apply Grunge Paste over Tim Holtz Herringbone Layering Stencil and allow to dry. Add random strips of card to the background for added texture and further layers.
  2. Coat the tag with a coat of Gesso front and back and once dry paint the tag with two coats of Raw Umber DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic to the font and back of the tag and then dry with a heat tool.
  3. Apply a coat of DecoArt Media Crackle Paint to the front of the tag and allow to dry completely.
  4. Once completely dry then add a wash of Raw Umber over the top to highlight the cracks further and to age a little more and then dry with a heat tool.
  5. Scribble Vintage Photo Distress Crayon around the Stencilled areas and around the edges of the card pieces and smudge with a finger.
I used the smallest of Tim Holtz Vignette shadow boxes to add dimension to my tag.  I added a Salvaged Doll which I painted with a wash of Raw Umber DecoArt Acrylic Paint. I added a watch face from my vintage pieces and also included some rolls of book pages from an old Alice in Wonderland book.
I sanded the edges of the tag and then added more Raw Umber Fluid Acrylic to age further. I added a little clock pin and some Tim Holtz Bouquet Flowers alonw with some Chatter Tape.
Tim Holtz Adornments Stars add further dimension to my piece. I coloured each of the stars with Rust Alcohol Ink to blend with my whole piece. Remnant Rubs also add a further layer of interest.
I love adding my trademark rusty wire and I love her little crown.
A Quote Chip completes my piece.

Imagine......

Hello and welcome. Today I have a project for you using the new releases from AALLandCreate.
I opted for a framed piece this time around using my new stamps and the new set from Olga.

I began by brayering the background with Dina Wakley's Heavy Body Acrylics, using only a light touch so that all the layers of colour are visible. I used Tangerine, Lime and Turquoise.
I also added background stamping using the background stamp from Tim Holtz On The Farm Stamp Set along with his Ledger Background. I also used Dina's Paints to stamp with. I added this fun little guy from Olga's stamp set, I love him, he is such fun.

I stamped my hearts with Black Archival Ink and then using my finger I applied Turquoise Heavy Body Acrylic Paint around the edges of each of the hearts.
I stamped my sentiment with Black Archival Ink and added some circles of paint for a further layer of interest.
Delicate splatters of white paint add a contrast.

Follow Your Heart

I followed my heart today and created something inspired by the hot weather we are experiencing at the moment. I was inspired to create with some hot warm colours today.
I reached for my Tim Holtz Distress Paints to create the background using Ripe Persimmon and Squeezed Lemonade Paints blending each with my finger. I added some shading around the circles with my Distress Crayons.
I added some texture applying Crackle Paste through the Linen Layering Stencil and then added touches of Distress Crayon to the texture.
Design Tape has been added to the background to add a further layer of interest.
A Paper Doll stands perfectly against the Idea-ology gear and rusty heart. I love the combination of the rust and the hot colours.
A few rusty stars and Chitchat sticker complete the design.

We are Fearless, Independent and Original

I decided to take a break from magazine commissions and create a card using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.
I began by die cutting the Wildflowers from white card and then adhering them to a piece of white card. I then added Paste over the Linen Layering Stencil and allowed to dry completely. I added a light coat of Gesso over the top, this gives a good base for the Distress Crayons and they blend beautifully.
I added a touch of Crackle Paste to give a further layer of interest. I love how the crayons settle into the cracks and highlight them further.
I blended the Distress Crayons with my finger and with a damp baby wipe, Ilove how some of the crayon settles into the crevices of the die cuts highlighting the detail further. I added a Chitchat sticker sentiment and layered onto a piece of black card.
The circle pieces are from Tim's Tag and Bookplate die the circle reinforcement piece for the tag, I thought they added a touch more detail and dimension to the design.

Beauty and Grace

I wanted to have another play with my new Finnabair Prima Impasto paints so decided to decorate one of Tim Holtz Etcetera tags.
I began by painting the tag with Cobalt (oh this is going to become a favourite colour for me, I love it!) and then blended Azure towards the bottom of the tag. These paints are gorgeous, so thick in consistency and rich in colour.
I painted one of the Prima Resin Frames this one is called Chantilly Royal with Cobalt Impasto Paint and once dry I then added wax over the top to highlight the wonderful detail. I added some texture behind the frame adding Texture Paste over a Tim Holtz Floral Layering Stencil and then sanding back to add white highlights to the texture. I also added Paper Dolls to the inside of my frame, adding cotton threads behind for added texture.
I also added some Prima Antique Metalware (spoon) which I also painted with the Impasto Paint and then added highlights with wax. I also added a Finnabair rusty heart to the centre of the spoon.
Tim Holtz flowers and heart charm add further interest and dimension to the design.
I added Remnant Rubs for a further layer of interest along with some delicate splatters of white paint. I also included a Finnabair metal butterfly for added dimension and movement.
Clippings Stickers from Tim Holtz were perfect for adding wording.

Eileen Hull Collaborates with Stampotique

The Eileen Hull Design Team are continuing with the month long collaboration with Stampotique and this week I have a little basket for you using Eileen's Sizzix Scoreboards Die Basket.
I covered mountboard with pieces of book pages from an old Alice in Wonderland book and then die cut the basket from the mountboard.
I coloured the background with Lemon Peel Impasto Paint, applying the paint with a palette knife and I then added random areas of Gesso, again applying with a palette knife to give me added texture.
I stamped Kassa's Bloom from Stampotiqe Originals onto the basket using Black Archival Ink and then painted with Raspberry Pink and Crimson Impasto Paints along with touches of Lemon Peel to add highlights. I then stamped back over the image to add the black detailed lines back into the design.
I also stamped part of the imagery inside the basket for added detail and added some dots of white using a paint pen.
To complete I added a Tim Holtz Sticker and added some delicate splatters of white paint.

AALLandCreate New Release

Back today with another sample using my latest release of new stamps.

I began by adding book pages to my background which I adhered with Matt Medium. I then applied Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic in Lemon, applying the paint with a palette knife
I then applied Gesso with a palette knife to add some texture and to lighten the page a little. I love how the text is still visible below.
I then added some scratchy lines with an old credit card and stamped my star image three times onto the background.
I shaded around the stars with Dina Wakley Sky Acrylic Paint.
I added a Tim Holtz Paper Doll and added some dots of white using a paint pen and I also included a sentiment using Tim's stickers.
Three Tim Holtz Adornments Stars complete my card along with a few scribbles with a white pen.
Thanks so much for your support on the release of my new stamps and stencil.

Craft Stamper Commission

I am always delighted to be featured in a magazine and last month I was featured in Craft Stamper Magazine with my Summer House. A huge thank you to Trish Latimer.
I wanted to create something in bright uplifting colours and with some type of wire surrounding it.
I have added a few detailed shots but won't go into detail re how I made the project as that is all in the magazine.
I love the torn pieces of paper.
Texture is always important in my pieces, I adore texture.
Rusty wire is another favourite feature.
