NOBLE ROOK

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is a simple one this week, use a FLOURISH in your design this week.  From stamps to stencils, filigree to embossed, we all love flourishes. Whether you add a fancy swirl, or simply give your project a little extra pizazz this week we invite you to join us in this fun challenge.
I decided to create a quirky card for a dear friend this week using the fabulous Spellbinders Noble Rook M-Mossabilities Folder which has fabulous FLOURISHES in the background.
Emboss a piece of white card with the Spellbinders Folder and then apply Peeled Paint Distress Ink over the embossed area. I love this folder, the embossing is so deep and detailed.
I wanted to age my piece a litte so I bent the card in different directions to add a few creases.
Touches of Vintage Photo Distress Ink were then added over the embossed design, I love these two colours together!
The Vintage Photo Distress Ink highlights the creases perfectly and adds to that aged feel.
I inked the Embossing Folder with VersaMark Ink to prevent any enamel sticking in my next step.
This is the first time I have actually used my Melt Pot, please don't ask me why, it's great fun and I love the texture and dimension enamelled pieces give to a piece of art.
I added some gold mica to the enamel or you could add any old embossing powders that you are not using at this point. It is important to work on a heat resistant mat when using the melt pot and I also used the Melt Art Tools.
I then poured the hot enamel onto the Embossing Folder. However, I would not recommend this usually with the folders being plastic, however, the M-Bossabilities are really thick and I thought I would give it a try and it worked beautifully and did not affect the folder.
The dimension, texture and detail from the enamel is fabulous, I love it. I then applied Treasure Gold Olive Bronze and Spanish Topaz Metallic Waxes to the raised areas.
The waxes really highlight all the fine detail.
I used a small heart cookie cutter, placed it onto the Embossing Folder and then poured more of the hot enamel into the cutter over the embossed design. I wanted the heart to be really deep and dimensional so I filled the cookie cutter with enamel, however, if you wanted it to be flat just cover the bottom area with enamel.

The waxes really highlight the wonderful dimension on this piece and I love how dimensional and tactile this card is.
I added a banner to the top of the card embossed again with the folder and coloured with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I have added WISH to the top of the banner cut from black card using the Typeset Die.
I have added black twine behind the Noble Rook for further interest and included a ChitChat Sticker, again coloured with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
I love the small dimensional heart too. I also machine stitched around the edges of the card to add a further layer of interest. Happy Birthday has been stamped on to the embossed aperture using the Simple Sayings Stamp Set and Black Archival Ink.
The Noble Rook image is set to be one of my favourites!

You are so brave! I think that I would be too scared to pour that hot wax on the embossing folder. Once I caught the carpet on fire with an embossing gun. So, I'm afraid of hot things now. :) But your results are sooooo worth the risk. You've created another fabulous card. Love it!

Woomph - genius!! The risk paid off big time, because your gilded raven looks amazing perched in front of his "shadow" in that fabulous green background. It's a great folder, but you've taken it to another level with this creation - and the finished card is simply brilliant - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!

WOW! This piece is stunning! And I love how you used that gorgeous folder twice! I would've never dared to pour hot enamel onto the folder, but once again, you have shown genius where I merely had cowardice thoughts! You always inspire me to try new things and I thought this piece was brilliant all the way around. I love the colors and really liked the multi-layered twine bow, too. Great job....again!

Tracy...your card is absolutely amazing! I really love that embossing folder. You're right....lots of stunning details on it! I really love what you did with the bird. The embossed one is really neat but then to pour UTEE over it and create a dimensional metallic looking bird as an embellishment....genius! :) Love all of the twine and other little embellishments you added to complete this gorgeous card. <3 Candy
