ANYTHING GOES......

............. At Simon Says Stamp and Show and this week I thought I would try something a little different for me and create 3 vintage ATC's.

My vintage ATC's were cut using the ATC & Corners die from Manila Card stock and decorated with vintage corset images which I found on-line, ageing with vintage photo Distress Ink. Add into the mix vintage Lace Trim and buttons adding to the vintage feel along with letters added to Jump Rings for added dimension.

My first ATC has a selection of vintage corset images which I coloured with vintage photo Distress Ink adding a little machine stitching for added interest.  I added cream buttons, adding natural twine to each for further interest. I also added a mini frame (there is a fabulous set HERE)  for added dimension and to highlight one of the images. I also coloured the image a little with vintage photo ink to give it that aged feel.

I also added a couple of jewels to my bodices, a tiny detail but I think it just adds to the interest and adds yet more dimension. I added CORSET to jump rings to complete, adhered with Glossy Accents.

My second ATC has machine stitching added to the edges and again has been aged with vintage photo ink but this time around I have added a vintage lace trim along with buttons and some metal flowers (there are some perfect ones HERE).

Once again I added jewels to the back of my bodice and Melissa Frances cream pearls to the front. I am really enjoying ATC's at the moment, a little space that you can create such a big impact, love them.

The third and final ATC is one of my favourites as I love the images and the little frame works perfectly with the female images.  Vintage trim, buttons and flowers have been added once again along with those letters added to jump rings.

Altered Mackerel Tin

I have been using the fabulous Vintaj Patina inks once again from The Stamp Attic, this time around on a metal mackerel tin that I found at the supermarket. I will definitely be doing more of these and the Patina inks work fabulously on the metal, such a good coverage.

I began colouring my tin with the Victorian Glade Patina inks, beginning with the amethyst first then applying marine and a little quartz. Although the tin is relatively small I did want to create lots of layers of interest.

My next step was to colour a piece of large card stock with dusty concord, shaded lilac and broken china Distress Inks, applying each colour to my non stick craft sheet and spritzing with water and mopping up the ink with my card. From my coloured card I cut two hearts, crowns and a set of wings using the Heart Wings die. I added one of my hearts to the bottom of the tin adding dream and embrace from the Chitchat stickers. I added a piece of wire to the inside of my tin, securing through two holes I punched in the top and bottom of my tin. This gave me the ability to attach coiled wire to the inside of my tin.  I only added the wire loosely to the inside so that I can move each coil to any position. For added interest I also added a Curio Knob to the top.

My next heart cut from card was then layered onto the edge of my tin along with a crown, to give layers of interest.  My next step was to cut a further heart but this time from Metal Foil Tape which I embossed with the Postale Texture Fade. I added the heart to card stock for extra stability and then adhered to the tin, giving me a third layer of interest.

I added a floral for further dimension cut using the Tattered Pinecone die. A little more dimension was also created adding the wings from the Adornments Charms. Again further Chitchat stickers were added to my hearts.

I love how the Distress Inks match the Vintaj Patina inks perfectly adding colour interest using different techniques.

I also added some coils of wire to the top of my tin.

Here you can see the dimension I have achieved, All my metal has been sanded using the Precision Sanding Block to reveal more of the metal.

Let It Snow

I've been using the fabulous Tall Conifer once again along with the snowflake for 100 Proof Press to create yet another Christmas Card, however if you changed the text/sentiment it would also be perfect for a Winter birthday card.

I stamped my background with the snowflake using Versamark ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder, blending broken china ink over the top, adding faded jeans to the edges.

I cut a circle from my square of card and added the circle to the aperture, stamping the tall conifers with black archival ink, colouring the background with broken china ink and spritzing with water to give a snowy feel to my card. For added dimension I included three wooden stars and wooden letters for SNOW, both coloured with broken china ink.  I found the pewter corners in my crafting goodies and added them to the opposite corners for added interest.

If I Had Wings

I decided on a little colour this time around for my DT piece for Creative Expressions using the Butterfly Girl by Sam Poole.

My background has been coloured with Dylusions Ink Sprays adding the odd splat using my picket fence Distress Stain.

To add a little more interest to my background I stamped the Bubble Wrap in coffee archival ink, adding highlights with my white gel pen.  I also stamped the leaf image randomly around my background.

I cut a heart from white card and coloured with Dylusions Ink Sprays adding the Bubble Wrap background to one corner and adding faux stitching to the edge for further interest.  For added dimension I cut two flowers from white card using the Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One, and again coloured with Dylusions Ink Sprays. I added my sentiments from Sam Poole's Art Sayings set to white card, coloured with the sprays and added to my card.

I stamped the Butterfly Girl onto white card and then onto Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante paper to give further interest to her dress and wings. I added a little coloure to her face and legs with Distress Markers, and added faux stitching to the outside edge of my card.

I would also like to enter this creation into The Stampman challenge which this time around is Summer Colours.

Live In The Moment

Time for a few peeks at Sheena Douglass' new stamp ranges, the first of which is the Silhouette Grasses and my first card uses the floral meadow type image. Sheena's shows are on Create and Craft on 18th July at 8am and Ideal World at midday.

I love these umbelliferous type images and I really enjoyed creating this card using Sheena's new stamps. The background was created with Distress Inks broken china and faded jeans.  I simply applied the ink to my non-stick craft sheet, spritzed with water and mopped up the beads of ink with my card, heat setting before each application of ink.

My floral image has been stamped with manganese blue archival ink and I have added white highlights with a gel pen.  For added dimension I have stamped the image once again onto a strip of card to fit a microscope slide and added to a memory frame, attaching a Philosophy tag attached with jump rings.  I have added silver paint dabber to the Philosophy tag to coordinate with my memory frame.

For further interest I have added a mini bird and the fabulous sentiment "Live in the Moment" to the bottom corner.  Faux stitching completes my first card in this series.

Industrial Layers

Simon Says Stamp and Show MORE THAN ONE LAYER, I love this challenge as I always add lots of layers to my creations so this was an easy one for me!

Lots of layers from me this week in the form of Metal Foil Tape, fabulous dimensional flower created from the Tattered Florals die, rusty wire, corrugated card and embellishments galore to create my industrial floral card. I added Metal Foil Tape to card and then embossed the background using the Regal Flourishes Texture Fade, coloured with pitch black Alcohol Ink and then sanded to give an Industrial feel. I then added touches of ginger Alcohol Ink to the crevices and then added to a 5" x 7" card blank.

From any left over foil I cut 6 layers using the Tattered Florals die colouring each layer with sail boat blue Alcohol Ink with touches of ginger here and there, attaching together with a  Curio Knob adding further interest and dimension. Before attaching the floral I added three coils of rusty wire, adding the floral to the top.

A further layer in the form of corrugated card which I machine stitched into place along with some string tied to the centre adding yet another layer of interest. I added a Hinge Clip to the edge of the corrugated card attaching a floral and leaves from the Idea-Ology Foliage. I also added "grow" cut from more metal using the Word Play die again colouring with pitch black Alcohol Ink but sanding only a little this time around.

This close up picture shows you the fabulous detail the metal foil gives embossed with the Texture Fade and the contrast between the background and my letters.

WORKING OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE

I have been working with the fabulous Vintaj Patina's from The Stamp Attic this week and working outside my comfort zone. Those of you that are familiar with my artwork know that I love my vintage, grungy colours, although I do work with bright colours on occasion too. However, I rarely use purple in my artwork so it was time to put that right and experiment a little.

I used the Victorian Gable colours here and I have to say I am quite pleased with the results and they are so simple to use.  The Patina's are an opaque ink specilly formulated to adhere to metal. Before you begin to use these inks you need to shake the bottles until the mixing ball rattles to mix the pigments. I simply applied a couple of blobs of each colour to my non stick craft sheet and used a flat paint brush to apply to the metal.

I applied Metal Foil Tape to a tag which I cut using the Tag and Bookplate die and embossed with the Postale Texture Fade and then coloured with the Vintaj Patina's. To embellish I added one of the Monarch Butterfly brass blanks which has been embossed with the Fern Fronds embossing folder and again coloured with the Patina's and attached with jump rings to coordinated ribbon.   I have then used the Precision Sanding Block to highlight the raised areas and reveal some of the brass. I coloured a piece of white card with broken china, dusty concord and shaded lilac Distress Inks,  applying the ink to my non stick craft sheet, spritzing with water and mopping up with my card. adding the sentiment from Wendy's An Eye For Art with black Archival Ink.

For added interest I have included two butterflies cut from card coloured with Distress Inks as before using the Mini Butterflies die, adding further dimension with the Pen Nibs.

Film Strip Ribbon has been stapled into place and FLY added using Alpha Parts.

The metal foil background has also been sanded using the Precision Sanding Block to reveal some of the bare metal, I am loving this Patina look.
