Joyeux Noel

Today sees the start of a new challenge with Katzelkraft and this month our theme is DISTRESS.
My aim today was to create a natural, rustic Christmas Card set against a burlap background adding to the rustic natural feel of my piece.
The background of the burlap has been painted with Gesso to lighten the background and add a further layer of interest. I have then die cut the ornate frome from white card and embossed with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder which adds to the distressed aged feel and adds wonderful texture too. I have added my focal image to the ornate frame and bleached out areas including his beard and hair.
I applied white embossing paste through Tim Holtz Star Layering Stencil and then added Vintage Photo Distress Powder to the stars. I love the texture this adds. I also included a Remnant Rub to the top of my focal image.
Rusty stars add a further layer of interest and add to the rustic charm. I also added the sentiment 'Joyeux Noel" colouring with Distress Inks and flicking the background with water to add to the distressed feel. I have also added touches of wax to the edges of my sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x x
