Altered Alice - Chapter 19, Week 1 - Lovely Garden and/or Flowers

Time for our monthly challenge over at The Altered Alice and this month we would like to see your lovely garden creations or your creations using flowers somewhere in your artwork.

Our monthly quote for September:

"...she tried the little golden key in the lock, and to her great delight it fitted!
Alice opened the door and found that it led into a small passage, not much larger than a rat-hole: she knelt down and looked along the passage into the loveliest garden you ever saw. How she longed to get out of that dark hall, and wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those cool fountains, but she could not even get her head though the doorway; `and even if my head would go through,' thought poor Alice, `it would be of very little use without my shoulders."
-- Chapter 1, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I decided to create an 8" x 8" card this month using one of the fabulous digi images the DT were given to work with from The Stamping Boutique.

The winner will receive 3 digi images from The Stamping Boutique, which has a wonderful Alice in Wonderland line we will be sharing with you! Tracey Malnoski is the owner and illustrator, and she has previously designed stamps for Unity, InStyle, Squigglefly, and The Digi Shack. Her Stamping Boutique has it all: digital images, red rubber stamps, and themes that include fairytale, whimsy, sentimental, and candy. Please visit the Store and their wonderful Challenge Blog!

I added text to the dress of my image using an old PSX stamp and then coloured with Prisma pencils, adding a couple of layers to the dress for dimension. The background has been created with fired brick and vintage photo Distress Inks, applying the inks to my non stick craft sheet and spritzing with water. I then picked up the beads of colour using my card, drying between each application. For a little more interest I used picket fence and vintage photo Distress Stains to add splatters to the background.
I coloured a second piece of white card in the same way as my background and then stamped the PSX sentiment with black archival ink. I added the gold letter 'A' for Alice, something I found in my local DIY store and I thought was a perfect fit for this piece, adding a little more dimension and interest.
My dimensional flower is an Art Part which I have coloured with Distress Inks, adding the text once again to the flower.  I love the fact that you can see QUEEN quite clearly on the flower, perfect for the image I have used.  I have added  gold paint dabber to the edges of the flower. For further interest I have added one of Wendy Vecchi's Embellish Your Art embellishments, a heart, to the centre of my flower and again stamped with a little of the text from the sentiment. I also rubbed a little colour over the heart using my finger.
Two brass flower corners have also been added giving a further layer of interest.

Enter your creations by Friday, September 28, 2012. Multiple entries are allowed, but to count as a separate entry each must be on its own blog post. All entries are welcome, but projects that feature Wonderland will have two chances at the drawing instead of one.  Good Luck!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x x
