A Touch of SHABBY, A Touch of GRUNGE, A Touch of AUTUMN

I've had a little time to enjoy my crafts today as my children are back at school, so more time for me to play, so I have created a little something for the following challenges:-
Compendium of Curiosities with Linda - INDUSTRIAL GRUNGE
Sunday Stamper with Hels - AUTUMN
Simon Says Stamp & Show - SOMETHING SHABBY
I have used the INDUSTRIAL GRUNGE technique (page 54 of the book) on my bird house, although it is a little difficult to see the metallic effect on the picture but I assure you it is there.  I'm not allowed to give you the details of the technique but I can let you know that I used Copper Metallic Mixative as my base colour and added DI Wild Honey.
I also applied the same technique to the leaves, I did spend a great deal of time distressing all my pieces too add to the aged feel of this piece.  The base piece was painted with one coat of Gesso, two coats of Claudine Hellmuth Sky Blue paint with very light highlights of orange acrylic over the top which was applied with an almost dry brush. To add to the SHABBY feel I used a baby wipe to remove some of the paint from areas of the bird cage and from the edges.  My bird is coloured with DI Tumbled Glass, with text added in Wild Honey.  Metal bottle caps coloured with Alcohol Ink have been added to the bottom of the cage and I have broken the bars to the cage to set my bird free.  A SHABBY flower has been added using The Artistic Stamper Flower Power sheet, along with a rusty heart and SOAR adage ticket.  Enjoy your evening, Tracy x x

Hi Tracy! I'm so happy you had some time to play, and you most definitely used it wisely. This is a gorgeous piece! Your distressing looks awesome, and I love the way you arranged the elements on this lovely work of art. The button for the bird's eye is so clever! And that rose! WOW!

You achieved a perfect, rusty, aged beauty, and I just love what you've created!
