Fragments

I have been thinking about this piece for a while and yesterday I just had to make a start!
I called it fragments as I was aiming for fragments of pieces that looked embedded into a framed piece and I am quite pleased with the results and I really enjoyed making this piece.
I began by painting one of Tim Holtz Vignette boxes with Raw Umber DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic and then drying with my heat tool.
I then painted with a generous top coat of DecoArt Media Crackle Paint. Do not work the paint too much, use a soft brush and lightly paint a good even coat over the box and allow to dry naturally.
Whilst the Crackle Paint was still wet I pressed some clay pieces into the Paint.
I added all my clay pieces and painted over some of the edges with the Crackle Paint so that they blended into the background.
I then added a wash of Raw Umber DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic over the crackle areas, wiping away any excess paint with a damp baby wipe.
Before I started to add my layers of colour I did add some DecoArt Media Texture Sand Paste around the edges of my clay pieces to add further texture. I applied layers with my fingers and allowed it to dry completely and then began to layer my colours first with a touch of DecoArt Media Cobalt Teal Hue, applying the paint wth a light touch and removing any excess paint with a damp baby wipe.
I then began to add further layers of colour, adding touches of Raw Umber and Quinacridone Gold using a fine brush and a light touch with the brush to add layers lightly and building them up slowly to achieve the look I was after. If I added too much paint then I simply wiped away with a baby wipe.
I needed to darken some of the edges a little so added touches of Paynes Grey, again adding light layers and building up as I moved around my frame. I also added some of Tim's Typography for added dimension. My clay was a little dry at times and cracked when I placed into my moulds but I liked that as it added to the aged feel of my piece.
I continued to add layers of Quinacridone Gold and Paynes Grey to darken and added some circlular pieces of rusty tin wire for added texture.
I have a vintage book that had numbers inside, which I tore and added a few touches to the background. I aged the papers with a wash of Raw Umber Fluid Acrylic. I adore the DecoArt Media Crackle Paint, so simple to use and the cracks are amazing.
This picture shows all the layers and fantastic texture which I love.
This is one of those pieces that I could not leave alone I spent hours adding and taking away colour until I was happy with the finish.
The cracks in some of the clay really add to that aged feel.
I sanded the edges of my frame to add further to the aged feel.
I love the dimension the clay fragments give to my piece.
Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you enjoyed reading about this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Have a lovely weekend. Tracy xx

WANDER!

Today I have created a card from the scraps that were left on my desk.
The only item not recycled from the scraps on my desk is the card blank.
The background piece and the aperture piece are all from leftovers on my desk. These are the pieces that I brayered excess paint onto that was left over on my brayer.
The Cityscape die cut piece was a small piece left over on my desk that I pieced together to fit the aperture, again set on a background that was leftover paint on my brayer. The heart was also left over on my desk so I just added a touch of colour to coordinate with the leftovers.
I added a Quote Chip and added some random stitching for added texture.
I added touches of brayered Distress Paint to the card blank to coordinate with the focal imagery and added some Chatter Tape for added interest along with a touch of stencilling using the Linen Stencil and Black Soot Distress Ink.
I was so pleased I did not just bin these leftovers!

Have a lovely day. Tracy x x

Trust Your Heart

Welcome, today I have a post using the Distress Oxide Inkpads.
I created a background using Distress Oxides Vintage Photo, Fossilized Amber and Fired Brick, adding many layers of colour until I was happy with the depth.
I used the Eye Chart Stencil to add detailing in the background, applying Black Soot Distress Oxide to the Stencil, spritzing with water and then placing the inked stencil down onto my background.
I used Tim's Heartfelt Die, added some machine stitching for added texture and also added some white hearts for some contrast.
I also added some of the waste from the die cut piece for an added layer of interest.
A Quote Chip has been added for dimension and interest and I also included some splatters of white paint.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x

AALLandCreate Exclusive Products

Hi everyone and welcome, today I have a post for you using my exclusive stamps from AALLandCreate.

I created a brayered background using DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Paints.
I use a light touch with the brayer to add layes of colour so that each one is still visible.
I stamped my scribbly heart onto the background and then added stamped hearts onto the top. Added a touch of shading around the hearts and added some delicate background stamping with Archival Ink. I also used Olga's little chap tucked behind the heart.
A few touches of white using Titanium White Fluid Acrylic to make the page pop along with a few delicate splatters of paint. I have also added a touch of stencilling to the background along with some random scratchy lines.

Shine

Today my post showcases products from IndigoBlu.
I painted my frame with IndigoBlu Pantry White and Townhouse Teal acrylic paints. I mixed them together to give me a slightly lighter tone. I then applied touches of Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint over the frame, applying with my finger and using only the smallest amount of paint.
I cut a piece of card to fit my frame and then stamped the lightbulb from the Shine Bright Stamp set with Black Archival Ink. I then created a mask and stamped the background stamps with Archival Inks Saffron and Vermillion, adding both inks to the stamps. The background stamps from this set are so versatile and could also be used on their own.
I stamped the bulb twice more onto white card, blended Ripe Persimmon around the edges and then adhered on top of the first stamped image. I then stamped the bulb for a third time and coloured with Distress Inks Ripe Persimmon and Fired Brick. I applied the Inks to a piece of acetate and then sptritzed with water and them smooshed the ink onto the bulb and then dried with a heat tool. I then applied several layers of clear embossing powder onto the top of the bulb and then placed the cut out piece into the fridge. I then removed from the fridge and bent the bulb to create cracks.
You can see the cracks more clearly from this picture. I rubbed over the top of the the clear embossing powder with Potting Soil Archival Ink to remove some of the shine. I also added the wording 'shine' to the top of the bulb again from the same stamp set.
I added some cotton threads behind the bulb for added texture. Having three layers to the bulb gives wonderful dimension to the piece. I painted some of Tim Holtz Typography Letters with Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint and adhered to the frame. Black Chatter Design Tape has also been added behind for some contrast. I also included an Idea-ology Gear and an old vintage penn nib.
I had some bulbs in my stash which I coloured with Rust Alcohol Ink and I also wrapped some rusty wire around each for added texture. The number stamp in the background is also from the IndigoBlu stamp set, one I will use manu times.
Delicate splatters of paint and two of Tim Holtz Index Clips complete my piece.

Hand-held

Hi and welcome, I have a post just for fun for you today.
Sometimes I think its good to just take a break from deadlines and just create for the fun of it, no theme in mind, just going with the flow and that is how this piece evolved.

I showcased my piece in a Prima tray which I painted with Raw Umber DecoArt Media Fluic Acrylic Paint. Once dry I then painted the tray with a coat of DecoArt Media Crackle Paint (love this crackle).
I was aiming for a textural piece so the crackle gave me my first layer of texture. I then created a hand from my own hand print sewing layers together including fibres, cheesecloth, book pages, tissue and hessian all to add to the layers of texture.
I created a head from one of my moulds, this is actually quite big. I did not smooth out any cracks in the clay as I loved this look it all adds to the worn, aged and textural feel to the piece. I gave the face a wash of Raw Umber paint, adding layers and drying in between. If I added too much paint I simply used a baby wipe to wipe some away.
The head nestles on a bed of rulers from Tim Holtz Idea-ology line and I have added some delicate touches of Ocean and Turquoise Dina Wakley Paint.
A couple of old paintbrushes to add dimension and interest along with some coils of rusty wire.
I added a few Remnant Rubs for added interest and added a couple of decorative clips from my collection. Hand-held is computer generated.
A circle of rusty wire completes my quirky piece.

Hope you enjoyed this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it. Have a lovely week.

A Vintage Journey Challenge - All Squared Up

Hello and welcome to a new challenge for A Vintage Journey. This month I am your host and my challenge is 'All Squared Up'.

"Whether a frame, embellishments, die cuts, drawn squares, doodles, or windows, let's see where inspiration takes you, let's get all squared up and show how creative those right angles can look! Show us your squared up pieces in a vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk style".

Our sponsor this month is the fabulous Tando Creative who are offering an MDF Package for one randomly drawn winner.
I opted to decorate one  of Tim Holtz Etcetera Tags.
I love that you can throw anything at these tags, any mediums and they work perfectly.
I began by applying Grunge Paste over the Screwed Layring Stencil and the Tiles Layering Stencil to add texture to the background and I then applied a coat of Gesso.
I then began layering my colours first applying a coat of Old Paper Distress Paint and whilst the paint was still wet I then applied touches of Brushed Corduroy Distress Paint over the top blending the colour with my brush.
Once I was happy with my layers of colour in the background I then began to apply a touch of colour with Broken China Distress Crayon, scribbling the crayon onto the surface and then blending with a damp baby wipe.
For my focal image I used an image from Tim's Etcetera Paper Stash and I die cut the image using Seth Apter's Robo Square Die adding a couple of layers of the die to make it more sturdy. I then die cut two of the other squares from the Robo Die, coloured them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and then added them over the top.
I added some burlap to the back of my focal image along with some cheesecloth, to give added texture and further layers to the design. I hung one of Finnabair's rusty clock pieces from a Hitch Fastener and added another vintage image to the centre.
I love all the layers in this piece, making it so tactile. I also included a few pieces of Tim's Idea-ology for added texture and dimension.
My trademark rusty wire had to appear somewhere and I used a circle of wire to showcase the focal image further and added 'be authentic' Quote Chip.
I tucked a tag behind my layers die cut using Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs and Tags Die. A few delicate paint splatters and scratchy lines complete my design.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I look forward to seeing all your entries into the challenge this month.
