Chic Wall Panel

This week I am showcasing the fabulous Antique Dressforms Stamp Set from Creative Expressions.
I began by decorating my a Wall Panel with a coat of White Texture Paste which I applied thinly with a palette knife and then set aside to dry. Once the paste was dry I painted the Wall Panel with a coat of Mushroom Acrylic Paint and then dry brushed with Bark Acrylic Paint.
I added a touch of stamping using the ruler stamp from the Vintage Sewing Stamp Set and Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.
I die cut a Bitty Blossom from brown card and then added touches of Enchanted Gold Gilding Wax to the edges of the petals. I also added buttons and a sewing machine charm to my cluster of embellishments sat on a piece of Crochet Ribbon. I stamped 'Tres Chic' onto a piece of cream card stamped with Potting Soil Archival Ink and coloured with Distress Inks.
I stamped the dressforms onto cream card with Archival Ink, cut out and then added to the Wall Panel. To complete I added a Vintage Metal Embellishment along with a repeat of 'Chic' stamped onto cream card.

An Impulse To Soar

This week I have used the FLOWER MARKET plate from Artistic Outpost to create my dimensional card.
My background has been created using the Tim Holtz Harlequin layering stencil and Faded Jeans Distress Ink. I then dried the ink and rubbed over my card with an anti static bag, stamped the butterflies with VersaMark Ink and then embossed with white embossing powder.
I blended Broken China Distress Ink over the embossed design, however, I used an ink blending tool that I had previously used green ink with and then applied the Broken China so this gave my project a turquoise tint, a happy accident! I die cut a circle and attached to the bottom left of my card and again used the Harlequin stencil to add detail.
I added dimension to each butterfly along with a pen nib for added interest and dimension.
The sentiment, which I love, is from the QUOTE and QUOTABLES plate.

WILD WEST

"this is where the cowboy rides away" - May cannot get this phrase out of her head and when that happens she knew she had to make it into a challenge! The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge would love to see how you intepret this weeks theme; will you use Tim Holtz western stamps? Do something cowboy inspired? Maybe do something with a setting sun, or about saying goodbye? Maybe you will be inspired by old western movies, the desert, cactus, or just the colours that remind you of the wild west. Feel free to run wild with this weeks theme.
When I think of the WILD WEST I am drawn towards Tim Holtz Wild West stamp set with the cowboy taking centre stage. WILD WEST conjures up stars, denims, leathery browns and rope for me, all represented in my tag.
I began by applying Faded Jeans Distress Stain to a Non-Stick Craft Sheet and spritzing with water and then mopping up the ink with a large tag.
Once I had mopped up the ink with my tag I heat set with a heat tool and then dabbed the tag in to the remaining ink and dried once again.
The edges of the tag have been distressed and torn and Walnut Stain Distress Ink applied to the edges for definition. At this stage I also applied Translucent Embossing Paste through Tim Holtz Stars Layering Stencil to give added dimension and interest.
I cut a star from white card and coloured with Faded Jeans Distress Ink, flicked with water and distressed the edges and then stamped the cowboy image onto the star.
Three mirrored stars have been coloured with Denim Alcohol Ink to tone with my tag.
Each stamped star was backed onto a piece of Kraft Glassine to give that leathery look I was also looking for agains the denim tones. I love the embossed stars in the background to which I added Treasure Gold Olive Bronze Wax to highlight the dimension. I also added touches of red to my tag including a wooden star coloured with Vermillion Archival Ink.
I also stamped WILD WEST onto a piece of shrink plastic, adding touches of Olive Bronze wax around the edges and adding clear embossing powder over the top for that glass tile like finish. I have also added natural twine behind the large star for that added rustic feel.
This picture showcases the detail the embossed stars give to my background, I love the Translucent Paste!
I also stamped WILD WEST onto Kraft Glassine using Vermillion Archival Ink, scrunched the Glassine to add to the worn feel and then added to my tag along with the mirrored stars.

Just For You

This week I am using the Bejewelled Bag from Creative Expressions, one of the Singles Range.

I began by colouring my background with Weathered Wood Distress Ink and then adding some random background stamping with the background stamp from Tim Holtz Classics 9 Stamp Set and Watering Can Archival Ink.
I distressed the edges of my card with a pair of scissors and then added Watering Can Archival Ink around the edges. Once I had finished colouring I then embossed the backdrop with the Couture Creations Seedling Nouveau Embossing Folder. I applied a little more Watering Can Archival Ink over the raised areas for a little more definition.
I stamped the Bejewelled Bag with Watering Can Archival Ink, adding background stamping to each bag and then cut out and bent to add dimension. Two Key Charms have been added to each bag and I have added applied Pewter Gilding Wax to each key to blend with my piece.
'Just For You' has been stamped onto white card with Watering Can Archival Ink and coloured with Weathered Wood Distress Ink.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Time for our monthly BLOG HOP with Artistic Outpost and this time around it is Designers Choice and I have decided to showcase the fabulous BIRDS OF A FEATHER plate this month.
The background piece has been coloured with Weathered Wood Distress Ink and flicked with water to add blotches to the backdrop. I have also distressed the edges with a pair of scissors.
I have added the fabulous bird image to a heart cut from white card, stamped with Watering Can Archival Ink and coloured with Weathered Wood Distress Ink which I have then showcased in a Heart Tart Tin.
I love the dimension the Tart Tin gives to my design.
I have also added random background stamping to my backdrop using the background stamp from the BIRDS OF A FEATHER plate and Watering Can Archival Ink.
A smaller heart has been added to the top of my card stamping part of the bird image to the heart incorporating a sentiment stamped on a banner, again coloured with Weathered Wood Distress Ink.
The background stamp has been added to the bottom corner of my card, I use the text from this stamp on many of my designs, its a great all rounder for any design.

My fellow Design Team members have made some fabulous pieces to inspire you, please pop along and visit their blogs and be inspired along the way.

Artistic Outpost also has a fabulous REFERRAL THEME taking place for January and the theme is ANYTHING GOES using your AO images. There is also a fabulous prize on offer, upload your designs HERE.

'A' IS FOR ART

This week Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has us all thinking about an alphabet inspired challenge. Will you use product from American Crafts? Create a whole album? An assemblage? Use adhesives in a special way? Whatever your take this week the challenge is all about the letter 'A'.

The letter 'A' instantly had me thinking about ART and how I could use the letter 'A' and ART in my artsy canvas.
I began by painting my canvas with a coat of Very Berry Fresco Finish Paint, applying the paint with a pice of Cut 'n' Dry Foam.
I love adding multiple layers to a canvas to give added interest. This time around I applied Little Black Dress Fresco Finish Paint through Tim Holtz Harlequin Layering Stencil. I then moved the stencil slightly and then added Very Berry Fresco Finish Paint to give a shadow effect.
For a further layer of interest I applied Very Berry Fresco Finish Paint to the background stamp from the Classics 4 Stamp set using a piece of Cut 'n' Dry Foam and then stamped randomly around the background of my canvas. I love the tone on tone effect.
At this stage I decided I would like some texture added to my canvas and applied White Embossing Paste through Wendy Vecchi's 3 Flourishes Stencil. However, If I had thought about this in the first place I would have applied the Embossing Paste prior to painting the canvas, however, sometimes this is how art develops!
I then placed the 3 Flourishes Stencil back over the top of the embossed design and added a coat of Very Berry Fresco Finish Paint. Once completely dry I then applied White Fire Treasure Gold Wax to highlight the detail and texture. At this stage I also added more background stamping using the background stamp from Tim Holtz Classics 9 stamp set, this time using Little Black Dress paint applied to the stamp. From this picture you can see all the layers I have added to the background.
I added a letter 'A' to the bottom of my canvas, again painted with Very Berry Fresco Finish Paint. I added background stamping to the letter along with Alpha Parts to add ART to the top. To add definition I also applied Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the letter. For further dimension and interest I also included a small wooden bird coloured with Black Soot Distress Ink. Again a further layer was added using Remnant Rubs Words.
To give yet further interest I added a UTEE heart dimension. I place the background stamp from the Classics 4 Stamp set uppermost onto a Non-Stick Craft Sheet, placed a heart cookie cutter onto the stamp and then poured hot Black Utlra Thick Embossing Enamel (melted into a Melt Pot) into the cutter and then set aside to cool. I then removed the cutter from the stamp. The heart was then painted with Very Berry Fresco Finish Paint and once dry I applyed White Fire Wax over the raised areas. I also applied Black Archival Ink around the edges of the heart for added definition.
I recycled the small sectioned tray packaging from some Prima embellishments, painted it with Fresco Finish Paint, added Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges and added Alpha Parts, heart and bird embellishments.
