FEARLESS

Today I have a project using stamps from AALLandCreate including my own range of stamps. All stamps are available from the BOUTIQUE.

I opted to create a book this time around using Eileen Hull's ScoreBoards XL Die Passport Book.  Its such a joy creating with stamps that you have designed yourself and I still can't quite believe I have my own range of stamps.

I began by die cutting the covers and pages for the book and then coloured each mountboard piece with Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylics in Lemon and Magenta.

I stamped one of my sentiments along the spine and added some background stamping. I stamped the Bird from my stamp set which you can find HERE using Black Archival Ink, stamping over the Magenta stamped layer. I love adding layers to my designs. The background stamping has been created using Autour de Mwa and Fiona's stamp sets which you can also find in the Boutique. I masked my bird and then added the Feather behind. I love that the Magenta stamping is still visible behind the darker, bolder black stamping on top.

I added painted layers inside along with some background stamping. I stamped my bird with Black Archival Ink and then inked the stamp lightly with Magenta paint and stamped over the top to give a second layer of colour. My Stamp Platform worked beautifully for this process.

I am loving this colour scheme at the moment and I adore the inspirational quotes from my set of stamps.

I wanted to keep the book fresh, bold and funky.

I stamped FEARLESS on top of the focal imagery, adding some touches of Magenta on top. I also included a monocle over the birds head, adding a feather embellishment below taken from an old piece of jewellery.

I stamped 'Rise Above' below my bird to ground the image so that it was not floating on the page. I also included some scratchy paint lines with an old credit card.

I bound the pages together with some black twine.

Eileen Hull Holiday Projects

Hi and welcome to my monthly post for Eileen Hull.  This month the Design Team are showcasing their Halloween, Christmas or Autumnal Projects.

I decided to create a Halloween project using Eileen's Passport Scoreboards XL Die.

I began by cutting my front and back covers and pages from mountboard and then adding colour using Distress Paints Ripe Persimmon and Twisted Citron, applying the paint with a brayer.

I embossed all my pieces with Tim Holtz Floral Texture Fade and then added Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Ink over the top, simply swiping the inkpad across the raised areas. I then dried the ink with a heat tool before applying the next colour.

I then applied Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide over the top to give a second layer of colour and once again dried the ink with my heat tool.

I adhered the front and back covers to the binding which has also been coloured with Distress Paints.

I then machine stitched the front and back cover to the spine and then dry brushed Black Soot Distress Paint across the raised/embossed areas.

I only used a light touch to add the dry brushing as I did not want too much black paint coverage.

I die cut five Raven's from black card.

Adhered all the layers together to give me one dimensional Raven.

I highlighted the embossed area on the Raven with a touch of Wax and added a Clippings sticker to the top.

No Raven is complete without a Paper Doll!!! I also added a feather behind which had a touch of stamping added using the background stamp from the On The Farm Stamp Set.

I added some skull beads randomly to the twine.

I also included some Design Tape and a Transparent Tile all from Tim Holtz Idea-ology range. I added a circle of twine for added texture.

Eileen Hull and Stampotique Collaboration

This month Eileen Hull's DT are collaborating with Stampotique Originals for a month of inspiration.

I decided to create a colourful Passport book using Eileen Hull's Scoreboard XL Passport Die which is one of my favourites and I decorated each page using Stampotique Stamps.

I began by die cutting the Passport Book from mountboard and then I brayered each piece with Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylics, ink this case I used Turquoise and Lime.

I then stamped Kassa's Bloom with Black Archival Ink onto both my front and back covers. I painted each of the flowers with Dina Wakley Acrylics, Tangerine, Ruby, Lemon, and Turquoise paints. Once the paint was completely dry I then stamped over the top again to add the lines of the flower back into the image. I used my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform for this process so that I could stamp straight over the top of the paint.

Stamping over the top of the paint once again adds all the detail back into the image which was lost during the painting process. I then added a few highlights of turquoise and Lemon Paint to the flower.

I then added delicate splatters of white paint to lift the design further and also added the WISH word again using Black Archival Ink.

I added a few more highligts of white to the wording, again to just lift the imagery once more.

I added three pages to the inside of my Passport Book, again die cut from mountboard. This page has the Take Your Time image on the right and Spidergrass stamped on the left hand side. I stamped the Spidergrass image with Dina Wakley Paints and Black Archival Ink, to add layers and give dimension to the page. I also added delicate splatters of white and black paint along with scratchy lines added with an old credit card.

My next page has Wally stamped in Black Archial and painted with Dina Wakley Paints.

My last pages have the Spidergrass once again along with paint splatters and scratchy paint lines.

I fastened my pages with coordinated twine. I love the combination of the turquoise, lime and more vibrant orange, red and yellow.

Going Round In Circles

Welcome to our first challenge of the year for A Vintage Journey, our theme for January is "Going Round In Circles".

Whether large or small, 2d or 3d, clock face embellishments, buttons, eyelets or created with paint pot lids, stamped, stencilled, doodled or finger painted let’s see what gets you going round in circles. This challenge theme particularly fits with the art journaling style we love to see but can also be incorporated into a vintage; shabby; mixed-media; industrial or steampunk project.

I opted to use Eileen Hull's Sizzix Passport Die for my creative piece. I die cut the pieces and then painted the front, back covers and pages with Raw Umber DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic, dried with a heat tool and then painted each with DecoArt Media Crackle Paint.

My focal piece is a Sandra Evertson Prima Relic Piece which again has Crackle Paint applied and aged with touches of more Raw Umber Fluid Acrylic applied with my finger. I also sanded a few of the edges and then added further layers of paint to darken and age further.

I used a pocket watch wooden piece to add depth to my design and to add the circular element needed for the challenge along with some circles of rusty tin wire, which I adore using.

I sanded the edges of the pocket watch and added further layers of Raw Umber paint. I also added a life pin to the bottom for further interest. The pages were bound together with natural twine.

The back cover of the book has a further Relic Piece which has again been aged with Raw Umber Paint which I applied as a wash. I also added book pages from an old Alice in Wonderland book and added some painty circles added with lids from paint pots.

I adore the text 'Be Brave' and how all the layers are visible. The numbers are Label Letters from Tim Holtz and I have also included some Remnant Rubs for further interest.

I added further layers of paint to the edges to add to the worn aged feel.

The crackle really makes this such a tactile piece.

Continuing with the circle theme inside my book.

I applied Raw Umber paint to the edges of a lid using my finger and then pressed the lid onto each of the pages and then dried with my  heat tool.

To add shading to each of the circles I applied DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Titan Buff to the inside of the circle, applying with my finger and whilst the paint was still wet I then added touches of Raw Umber, blending both paints with my finger.

To add further definition to the edges I also applied Walnut Stain Distress Crayon to the edges of each circle and then smudged with my finger.

Each of the circles had numbers added using one of the mini Layering Stencils from Tim Holtz, applying Raw Umber paint over the stencil with a piece of Cut 'n' Dry Foam. I also added delicate splatters of Titanium White Paint to each of the pages to add highlights.

Eileen Hull Art With Heart Challenge - Favourite Fall Things

It's time for our monthly challenge over at the Eileen Hull Art with Heart Challenge and this month our theme is "Favourite Fall Things". I also have some exciting news to share at the end of the post!

I love the Autumn season, particularly the colours of the changing leaves and this was my inspiration for this piece.

I began by die cutting my pieces for the Passport Book, three sets of pages, a front and back cover and the spine.

I then began by building up layers of brayered colour, beginning with DecoArt Cadmium Red Hue.

I continued this process adding one layer of colour at a time, DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Pyrrole Orange was next and then Yellow Oxide.

When brayering use only a light touch so that all the layered colours are visible. I then added DecoArt Media Green Gold and very light touches of Burn Umber. To add definition I then applied Distress Ink Ground Espresso around the edges of each piece and the folds of the spine.

Once I was happy with the layered colours I then began to decorate. I die cut Tim Holtz Layered Leaf from the front cover to give a leaf aperture and also the die cut leaf shape. I applied Ground Espresso Distress Paint to the edges of the leaf and also added a couple of Remnant Rubs for added interest.  I used the lid from one of my DecoArt Media Pastes, applied Carbon Black DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic to the edges of the lid and then stamped the edge of the lid to the top of the front cover. I repeated this process to add smaller circles using a smaller lid. The paint was then dried with a heat tool. Each circle was painted with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Titanium White, allowed to dry and then coloured with Gelatos, blending the colours of the Gelatos with my finger. I added Black Gelato around the edges of the circles and then smudged with my finger; I love how the colours really pop and the Gelatos add more depth of colour to the design.

This picture shows the book fully bound; I love all the layers of colour and the black really pops against the backdrop.

I added a touch of background stamping to the leaf using Tim Holtz Ledger Script stamp and Black Archival Ink. I also stamped 'Leaf' to the top circle using a small alphabet set.

To complete the front cover I added an 'autumn' ChitChat Sticker.

I continued adding circles to the inside pages; colouring with Gelatos.

I die cut a second Layered Leaf from scrap card and then placed the leaf onto the background of the pages and then applied Magenta PanPastel around the leaf, repeating the process to add a second leaf to the page. I then drew around each leaf with a Pitt Pen and added a touch of shading around the edges with a Distress Marker. To add a further layer of interest I also applied DecoArt Modelling Paste over Tim Holtz Dot Fade stancil, which adds further texture to my design. I also added more circles but this time coloured them with PanPastels Permanent Red and Orange.

I continued with more circles on the other pages adding a sentiment which I thought was perfect for someone who adores the garden like me!

I added more texture to these pages adding more Modelling Paste over the Tim Holtz Dot Fade Stencil.

Another fabulous sentiment, perfect for a garden lover.

I will definitely be using my Gelatos again, they really do add wonderful depth of colour to a design. Eileen Hull's Passport Book really is a wonderful die and makes a perfect gift idea!

Now onto my fabulous news.....I am so thrilled that DecoArt have accepted me to be a part of their DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program and I am absolutely thrilled.
