I moved away from browns this week and opted for Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, one of my favourite colour combinations at the moment. I applied the inks to a Non-Stick Craft Sheet and then spritzed with water and mopped up the beads of ink to colour my card. The backdrop has then been stamped with buttons and rulers from the Vintage Sewing Stamp Set. I have also distressed the edges of the card and added machine stitching to the outside edges.
To add further detail to the dresses I have used Cosmic Shimmer Heat Bondable Glitter Film and Fibres.
Sometimes its great combine some old favourites along with new products. I have not used the Bondable Film and Fibres for a while and it was great to revisit them. Simply place a piece of the film onto a piece of paper and then layer fibres onto the film along with any other bits you would like to sandwich within the layers.
Place another layer of Film on top of the fibres to create a sandwich.
Place another layer of paper on top of the sandwich or use Greaseproof Paper (which I found to be the better option).
Iron the sandwich with a hot iron, remembering to switch off the steam option. Iron until the sandwich becomes fused together.
I then stamped the Mini Floret onto the fused piece using Black Archival Ink and the Heartfelt Mini Vintage Floret Stamp Set. I dried the ink with my heat tool to prevent any smudging. I also added some random machine stitching to the fused piece.
I stamped the dressforms onto a panel of card which I coloured with Distress Inks and added background stamping and then stamped the top part of the bodice onto the fused pieces I created and cut out and added to the top of the dressform for dimension and added interest. I love the touch of sparkle and the fact that the dressforms are quite tactile.
Each stamped piece was matted onto a piece of black card to lift a little from the backdrop and the black coordinates perfectly with the machine stitching and black stamping. I also added SEW using the Vintage Alphabet again coloured with Distress Ink and applying Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the sentiment for definition.
The remainder of the Mini Florets were added to the bottom of the card. I also love adding tone on tone stamping to my backgrounds it adds a wonderful detail.
You can see the stitching on this picture that I added to a couple of the Dressforms for a further layer of interest . I also included a button threaded with twine to each dressform.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x x
