Make The Cut

Both myself and my team mate Anna-Karin asked for a die cut challenge this week; whether you use a die cutting machine, a paper punch, pre-made die cut shapes, or have your own twist on the challenge. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog would love to see how you are inspired by our challenge this week.
My inspiration this week was the vintage camera die which I thought would be perfect to create a dimensional birthday card for my Brother in Law.
I began by painting the Art Parts Film Strip frame with black soot Distress Paint and then adding white embossing paste through the Classic Words stencil to add numbers to the frame. I then die cut the Vintage Camera die from black Kraft Core card stock and then sanded around the edges to age. The picture wheel has also been cut from Kraft Core card stock and numbers have been added behind using the Crowded Attic Paper Stash.
To add a little more interest I dry brushed gold paint dabber across the frame.
The dry brushing highlights the raised areas.
To create the picture reel I die cut two gears from Kraft Core card stock and cut a narrow strip of card which I rolled and then adhered a gear to each end of the rolled strip.
I added Treasure Gold wax around the edges of my frame to lift the colour a touch and to add another layer of interest. I also included Chitchat stickers, colouring the edges of each sticker with black soot Distress Ink. Film strip ribbon has also been added to my picture reel and to the top of my frame.
For a touch more dimension I also added a compass coin and game spinner to the centre of the picture wheel. I also added two Studio Calico wooden cameras, colouring the edges of each camera with black soot Distress Ink.
For further interest I have added large and mini metal numbers to echo the numbers added in the background.
The sentiment was perfect for this piece, stamped onto Kraft Core card with black Archival Ink.

For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog and take a look at my fellow team members they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated.  Enjoy your week. Tracy x x

Tracy....your piece is amazing! My goodness...you really have captured the essence of this theme with ALL of the die cuts you've used one one small card! I hate to even call it just a card as it is so much more than that! Wendy would love the way you've used her Art Parts Filmstrip here. The die cut camera, the gear filmstrip reels, the picture wheel, the numbers all work so perfectly together for a birthday celebration piece! Love your use of color...such a masculine vintage feeling here! And...your use of the numbers on the picture wheel from Tim's Crowded Attic Paper Stash--LOVE THAT! You never disappoint with your creativity and finished pieces! <3 Candy
