The first challenge is for the Play Date Cafe and the picture above is our inspiration. I love this picture and the colours are so rich and great to use in your art.
My first piece is a grid card, not done one of these for ages and found a sample in my stash and thought I would have another go. The light is not too good in the garden tonight but the colours do actually match perfectly with the picture.
- Stamp the image in the centre first, I used an Outlines stamp and stamped my image at a slight angle.
- Use a piece of scrap paper to mask off the central image and sponge colour, sweeping outwards towards the outside edge of the card. I used Adirondack butterscotch and cranberry inks, using the lightest colour first. Continue to move around the card masking off the central image each time and sponging colour. You have then created your grid.
- Mask off each section of the grid with scrap paper and stamp an image into each section. My images have been stamped in StazOn timber brown as I thought this was less harsh than black with these colours.
- Matt your completed piece onto co-ordinated Bazzil card to match the colour challenge.
- Add sentiment.
The second piece is also for the Play Date Cafe Challenge and The Artistic Stamper Creative Team Blog Challenge which is RAINBOWS.
- Draw around an old CD onto decorative paper, add embossing using a Cuttlebug folder and adhere card to the CD. Sand the edges of the card and the raised edges of the embossing. Add a little colour to the raised areas too. I used Adirondack cranberry.
- I decorated a piece of glossy card with Alcohol inks mushroom, cranberry and butterscotch using the applicator tool and pads. Simply put your Alcohol inks in a row on the pad and sweep the colours across the glossy card, apply the inks again to the pad and sweep across the glossy card in the opposite direction to give you a plaid pattern. I also added a little blending solution so the colours were a little more muted. Punch a medium deckle circle from this decorated piece, this creates my RAINBOW piece for The Artistic Stamper challenge.
- Cut 5 deckle circles from card, mist with water and scrunch each circle up and then unfold and create your flower. Punch a small daisy from co-ordinated card/paper and add to the centre of the flower with a brad.
- To create the butterfly, place the stamp uppermost onto a flat surface. Mix a little PVA with water, place a tissue over the butterfly, dab a stipple brush into the PVA mixture, squeezing out any excess and then pound the stipple brush onto the tissue ensuring the tissue makes contact with all the image. Repeat this process with approx. 5-6 pieces of tissue. Set aside to dry. Once dry sponge the butterfly with Adirondack butterscotch and cranberry inks and add jewels to the body.
- Add butterfly, jewels and sentiment to the card to complete.

Gorgeous grid card Tracy, love it!
These are beautiful Tracy. I am covered in cranberry ink but haven't got anything together yet. I really love that grid card. I have never made one on a slant like that. Very cool.
You're right, Tracy - gorgeous colours and colours I Love to use, too. Great grid card tut - I've promised to post one of those this week and took, photos of the one I made last week, so will be doing that tomorrow, hopefully - be good to see how they compare, lol. Love the grid card, btw. Great CD card, too - I've never used paper on mine - just stamped directly on them - that's a new take for me, but there again, I'm not a paper user, lol. Great work.
Absolutely wonderful work as always, Tracy! Great way to combine challenges..they all worked really well together...thanks for your continued support of The Play Date Cafe...it wouldn't be the same without you : ) xx
Fab card Tracy, I forgot how lovely Grid cards are, thanks for reminding me.
Both beautiful projects, love them. Annette x
Both are just absolutely gorgeous, Tracy! Love the colors on both, and that flower is lush.
Beautiful! Love the grid card. Gorgeous take on the colors. The second card is wonderful and love the embossing on the CD. So glad you joined us again at the PDCC.
Great card Tracy, love the artistic feel to it. Super images all tie in together to make a cohesive design! Thanks for joining us at the Play Date Cafe this week!
Wonderful cards Tracy, love all the different stamps in your grid card! Thanks for playing at the PDCC.
Hi Tracy
You have used some really interesting techniques here in these two pieces. The grid is imaginatively done on an angle, how clever! I love the way you have inked it ... so cleverly done.
The butterfly is wonderful...is that called 'paper casting'?
It sounds as if you were inspired by the garden for the grid card. The soft colours you have used are are very much in keeping with a stunning garden at sunset.
Two beautiful works of art!

Lovely card, thanks for joining us at The Stamp Man challenge!
Beautiful work as usual Tracy....I am amazed at how much craft you turn out...and all wonderful! x
Both creations are stunning but I just adore the grid card! I love the tilted angle, it just adds another dimension and I thanks for the instructions ;) I always wondered how to do these, I wasn't sure whether I would be supposed to cut of each tile individually lol ;))). Perfect stamping, perfect pieces. As always! xxx
gorgeous creations Tracy.
Great pieces, and thank you for entering The Artistic Stamper challenge :))
Wonderful grid card, love the subtlety of the colours on it.
I am just loving the grid card, its awesome, such a cool effect, thanks for playing along again with the ASCT Challenge Tracy x:D
I love these rich colors and your post is just fabulous. I really appreciate all the details (you know how I LOVE details) of how you created both cards! The grid is fab, especially since you angled it slightly askew which adds so much interest and energy to the design! The rich colors and textures of the second card are gorgeous! I am going to try that tissue/PVA technique soon - you have made so many extraordinary embellies with this technique. I'll make a mess of it the first time I'm sure but I am going to have to try! I'm totally inspired!!!
wow!! Just Love the mosaic collage! FABULOUS!!! Hugs Juls
