A Vintage Journey - 3rd Anniversary

Today A Vintage Journey celebrates its 3rd Anniversary, a wonderful three year creative journey and I am thrilled to be a part of it.

Here is what our host Brenda had to say about our Anniversary challenge:

"Come join in our open house challenge where you choose what you want to step aboard with and although we still need to see you working with the styles and genres listed in the banner at the top of the page you can choose whether you share a card, some altered art, a journal page, a painting, in fact whatever you fancy, but with no theme to follow. Let's have some fun, share our current creations and enjoy the informal feel of our birthday celebration".

I decided to decorate one of Tim Holtz new Etcetera Tags, these are a fabulous thick sturdy surface to work on, perfect for lots of layers which I love adding to my artwork.
I began by applying PaperArtsy Grunge Paste over one of Tim Holtz new Layering Stencils and allowing to dry completely. I opted for Grunge Paste as it is possible to sand the area after medium has been applied.
The next step was to paint over the tag with Antique Linen Distress Paint.
I applied two coats of the paint to give me a good backdrop to add further layers.
Vintage Photo Distress Paint was added to a non-stick craft sheet and spritzed with water.
I then dipped the tag into the paint and spritzed further with water and moved the tag to allow the paint to run into all the Paste.
I continued with this process until I was happy with the layer of colour and then dried with my heat tool.
I then added a touch of Fired Brick Distress Paint and once again spritzed with water and then dried with my heat tool.  If I added too much paint, I simply dabbed with a baby wipe to remove any excess.
I die cut one of Tim Holtz Tiny Houses and then applied Grunge Paste over one of Tim's Mini Layering Stencils, allowed to dry and then coloured with Distress Oxides, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick and Fossilized Amber. I also applied Vintage Photo Distress Crayon around the edges of the house and smudged with my finger. Once I had coloured the house I then sanded the paste a little to give highlights. I also added a Hitch Fastener for added interest.
I also sanded the background areas to give highlights and also added some Tim Holtz Idea-ology and rusty tin wire for added interest.
Mini Alpha Dice add further dimension to the design. Before adding the Tiny House to my design I layered some tape and a remnant of fabric behind along with cotton fibres to give more texture and interest to the design.
I added a spoon for a play on the words homemade which I coloured with Rust Alcohol Ink. I also added computer generated text along with some random Remnant Rubs to the background.
I added delicate splatters of white paint and added a few delicate scratchy lines with black paint, all adding to the layers and interest. I adore the oxidisation on the house from the Oxides!
Our sponsor this month is Country View Crafts offering a fabulous £20 gift voucher for our randomly drawn winner.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by. Tracy x x

Stunning soft painty colours and effects - so beautiful over the texture - and I love how you've incorporated the little house - also delightful with the texture - and the embellishing is just perfect. This is a glorious make.

Absolutely fabulous! Tracy. Love the stencil work with those subtle wash tones on the Tag. Using the spoon handle to create a grounding for your fab oxidised house is a clever touch-like the play on words this element brings too.
A really great project and lovely design .
Happy AVJ Birthday x
