Curiosities

Today is 5/5 and since the day and month are very rarely the same number Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge have a special kind of challenge for you this week. It's a challenge where you have got to pick five! Pick five things, TOTAL to create your project or you need to use five of something (papers, buttons - anything!) in your project.
I knew I wanted to incorporate numbers into my design this week and decided to use Tim Holtz Numeric Stamp set incorporated with the Bird Feather Stamp Set. As this weeks challenge is all about the number five I used 1-5 in my background.
The backdrop of my card has been coloured with Weathered Wood Distress Ink, blending the colour with an Ink Blending Tool and then flicking with water to add splotches to the bacdrop. I then stamped the wonderful bird in Black Archival Ink, I then created a mask of the bird from scrap paper, placed the mask onto the stamped bird and then added the numbers around the bird image. I also added the wonderful feather for the bird to rest on, stamped with Watering Can Archival Ink. I also flicked Weathered Wood Distress Paint onto the background to add a further layer of interest and then heated to create a few bubbles. I used a couple of tops from different size containers, dipped the top into Snowflake Fresco Finish Paint and added random circles to the background along with circles added using Watering Can Archival Ink, these circles add yet another layer of interest to the card. Scratchy lines have also been added again using paint and ink.
I also added five embellishment pieces to my design, the first being the Curiosities Word Band, threaded with coordinated twine. Subtle background stamping has been added using the background stamp from the Classics 9 stamp set and Weathered Wood Distress Ink. The second of my embellishments is the Arrows Adornment which I have placed to point to the Curiosities Word Band.
The third of my embellishments is this fabulous white Prima Resin Feather. From this picutre you can also see further background stamping with the Fig. stamp which is also included in the Bird Feather stamp set and I have just stamped Fig 1 to Fig 5 again using Watering Can Archival Ink.
The fourth embellishment is the Alpha Chips added to the top of the card to add FLY. This picture shows the layers I have created on my background perfectly. You can see the subtle background stamping using Weathered Wood ink, the painty circles, scratch lines and darker layer of stamping.
The fifth embellishment is the Monocle from Tim Holtz Idea-ology range, I love these and they are perfect for adding to your art as they are so light. I have added the birds head to mine along with Label Letters to add FLY to the bottom of the Monocle.
For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog and take a look at my fellow team members artwork, they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated. Tracy x x

This is fabulous! I can't believe how vibrant this gray color palette is! The bird image is simply gorgeous and one of my favorite elements is the "fly" ring hanging from its beak. I would've never thought to make a bird head pennant hanging from a bird's beak! Brilliant!
