JOURNEY

Whether you are talking about your own creative journey, process, life in general, or your next vacation we know one thing, it's going to be a journey. This word is so inspiring and conjures up so many images and thoughts. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge cannot wait to see how you interpret the challenge this week.
I am already thinking about warm sunny days with my piece today, thinking about bike rides and long walks that we take during the summer months when we visit a local forest nearby. There is nothing more invigorating than a bike journey, long or short, (in my case short).
I began my card by applying White Embossing paste throught the background stencil and the Bicycle stencil and then setting aside to dry. Once dry I applied Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain Distress Inks to a Non-Stick Craft Sheet, spritzed the ink with water and then mopped up the ink with the card and then dried with a heat tool and repeated the process until the card had a good coverage of ink. I then placed the Bicycle stencil back over the design and applied a good coverage of Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the embossed design.
I added background stamping to my design using the background stamp from Tim Holtz Classics 9 Stamp Set and Walnut Stain Distress Ink to give a tone on tone effect. I also added a few highlights to the bike using Olive Bronze Treasure Gold Wax.
I matted my decorated piece onto a piece of brown card to lift the design from the backdrop. I also added a Word Band which I coloured with Potting Soil Archival Ink and added twine to each end.
I added a cute little wooden bicycle to the bottom of my card to echo the focal and background images, the perfect embellishment!
I stamped the JOURNEY sentiment onto white card using Potting Soil Archival Ink, cut out and then coloured with Distress Inks. Adding Potting Soil ink to the edges for definition. I also added Mini Gears to the wheels for added interest and dimension.
For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog and take a look at my fellow team members artwork, they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated. Tracy x x

This has to be one of my most favourite of your projects ever Tracy. I love the way the Distress Inks have puddled around the bikes and putting the gears on the largest one is inspired. Jenny x

Tracy...your card is awesome!I love your background with all of the smaller bicycles. Love the color. Love the texture. I really love the larger bicycle that you've done with the embossing paste through a stencil. That is a very cool stencil! I also love the way you've matted around the card and the bigger bicycle with the brown cardstock. That really pops the green blended background. Love your design, too! As always, very unique and beautifully done! <3 Candy

What a fabulous project! I admit that I've had some negative bicycle experiences in my past that involved me and the pavement, but I still adore the iconic bicycle image and you've portrayed it beautifully here! Such a whimsical shape, yet you've given it such sophistication and a cool vintage vibe.

love what you did with the layers of bikes! And... I have to say, I got a good giggle out of your "short" bike ride comment... lol. I can relate :)
