Inspiration Francais

Time for another fabulous challenge from Simon Says Stamp and Show and this week we would like to see your French inspired pieces, what images come to mind as soon as you think of France?

For Tracy inspiration comes in the form of an altered French sardine tin.
My husband helped the cause this week, eating plenty of sardines for my creative endeavours. Inspiration began with the PARIS film collage stamp, a perfect backdrop for my tin. Colouring my tin was made so easy with the use of the Vintaj Patina Inks Weathered Copper, giving wonderful coverage. A little ageing was needed so StazOn timber brown and Alcohol Inks ginger and rust came to the rescue. This piece has pride of place in my craft room.
The PARIS film image has been stamped with black archival ink and aged with vintage photo Distress Ink.  To give a little more interest I used a water brush and removed some of the colour to give some highlights and further interest to the stamped image. I also added Ranger's Queen's Gold embossing powder to the edges.
To give my tin some stability I adhered a bracket purchased from my local DIY store, coloured with Alcohol Inks ginger, rust and pitch black, applying a couple of layers of colour. I added two pieces of film strip ribbon to echo the film strip in the stamped image. Imagine from Chitchat stickers has been added to one piece of the ribbon as I was imagining being in PARIS whilst I was creating my piece, so many memories came flooding back from my visit many years ago.
To give a little height I also added a Kaiser Eiffel Tower wood flourish piece, coloured with walnut stain Distress Ink , adding a little Queens Gold embossing powder for a little texture. This wood piece gives fabulous height and dimension to my piece.
I stamped the PARIS text once again from the background stamp, cut out, coloured with vintage photo ink, added gold Paint Dabber to the edges and added to the edge of my tin adhering with Glossy Accents.
The fabulous Mona Collage has been stamped onto shrink plastic, coloured with Distress Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder, adding gold Paint Dabber to the edges.  I also scratched the surface a little with wire wool to age. To complete I added two mini Eiffel Tower charms for further dimension and interest.

For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog and take a look at my fellow team members they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated.  Enjoy your week. Tracy x x

Tracy, your altered sardine can is amazing! I love the teal corrugated interior...that looks so cool and adds such great color and texture to that really cool collage stamp interior. The filmstrip ribbon with "imagine" was a great touch in there! I also love your base...what looks like it could be a girder for the Eiffel Tower! Very inspired piece! The little Eiffel Towers, the Mona Lisa and then the larger Eiffel Tower all just scream "Paris"! As always, wonderful job with color and detail! <3 Candy

Just fantastic Tracy - full of delicious vintage atmosphere and fabulous patinas and colours. I can well see why it now has pride of place. One question... were they really French sardines?!
