Vintage Butterflies

Hi and welcome, today I have one of my samples for you that I created for my Make and Takes and Ally Pally show which took place at the weekend.
I created quite a few cards for the show and I will show those over the next few days. This one is using more rustic tones. I began by layering a random layer of Texture Paste across the background using a palette knife, which I then dried with a heat tool.

I then created a monoprint using Aida's stencil which you can find HERE. I simply applied Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink to the reverse of my stencil and then spritzed with water and then laid the ink side down onto my Texture Paste Background, dabbed the back of the stencil with a piece of kitchen towel to ensure good contact and then removed the stencil and dried the background with a heat tool.
The focal imagery is my butterfly from my stamp set HERE.  I stamped the butterfly onto vintage music pages and added a touch of Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink around the outside edges of each butterfly.
I added some rusty nails for their bodies, which I adore and added them to my background, adding cotton threads behind for added texture.
I love how all the layers are visible and each one adds so much interest to the card.
I added a touch more stamping to the background using my border stamp which you can find HERE. I love this background stamp, so perfect for adding interest to the background of your designs or using as a focal image too.
I then added a few pieces of Design Tape from Tim Holtz to add a touch more interest.

Above are a couple of pictures from the Ally Pally show. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came along to support AALLandCreate and joined in my make and takes. THANK YOU.

Tracy x x

It was lovely to finally meet in person Tracy, and I loved the make & take!
I would have made this beauty too, but didn't want to hold up others who were waiting! I love the rusty nails, and I'll be trying this technique definitely!

So beautiful Tracy! The background is wonderful, I love the random rings design. Wonderful palette, I'm always so drawn to your neutrals, but I think my favourite detail is the music notes on the butterflies. What a lovely way to add extra interest and create a beautiful flow for the eye to follow! hugs :)
