A Vintage Journey - December Challenge - Winter Magic

We have a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and our host for November is the lovely Deb who had this to say about her challenge.

"For us in the northern hemisphere December brings the start of winter and for many that means freezing cold weather and Christmas. But winter is so much more than that and so we ask, how would you interpret the magic of winter; snow, icicles, colours of blue, silver and white, the festivities of Christmas, misty winter landscapes? Show us what your magical focus is for the season."

Please remember to be a winner or Pinworthy mention your project must be in a vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial or steampunk style.
For me the magical focus for the season is family and taking time out to spend quality time relaxing and regrouping and it is also time to have fun and create some festive pieces.  For this months challenge I opted to create a card for a friend and a couple of decorations for the tree.
The glass baubles were decorated with Alcohol Inks, Juniper, Pearl, Patina, Turquoise and Citrus.
I also added Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs to each of the baubles along with a pine cone to each from Tim's Idea-ology range.
The background of the card has been coloured with Distress Inks Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Twisted Citron, applying one colour at a time onto a non-stick craft sheet, spritzing with water and then mopping up the beads of ink with the card and drying with a heat tool before applying the next colour.
I used a stencil and applied Hickory Smoke around the edges of the stencil and then stamped the winter scene from Tim's Holiday Drawings stamp set into the centre of the bauble.
A touch of stencilling has been added, applying Distress Inks through Tim's Stars Layering Stencil. I also applied DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Titanium White over the same stencil and added splatters of the same paint.
Our sponsor this month is the wonderful Country View Crafts, pop by A Vintage Journey for more details. I am looking forward to seeing your entries this month and how you are inspired.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x x
