Off To Neverland

Simon Says Stamp and Show would like you to embrace your sense of whimsy this week; whether you go with a classic tale, use a quote from a story or create a once upon a time scrapbook or journal page. You could be inspired by a story, a character, wherever inspiration takes you we would love to see your interpretation of this weeks theme.

I decided to create a fairy tale dimensional card showcasing Wendy and Peter.
A new acquisition in the form of the Neverland plate from Artistic Outpost was my inspiration this week. As soon as I saw this stamp set I knew I wanted to frame my images in some way and eventually decided to create a circular aperture using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circle Large Die. I also wanted to give my card a brighter colour palette especially with using child like fairy tale images and fired brick and wild honey Distress Inks came to the rescue and fitted the whimsical feel perfectly. It was such a refreshing experience to create something a little less grungy than I normally create.
I began with a piece of white card 6.5" x 6.5", I then cut a circle from scrap paper using the Spellbinders die, placed the cicle in the centre of the white card, holding in place and then coloured the top of the card with fired brick ink and the bottom with wild honey ink and then spritzed with water for further interest.  For the next step I used the aperture left from cutting the circle from the scrap paper, placed the aperture onto my card so that only the circle was visible and then stamped Wendy and Peter into the aperture with black Archival Ink. To add a little more interest I added the leaves to the aperture using Wendy Vecchi's It's Face Art stamp set, stamping the leaves with forest moss Distress Ink. I stamped the leaves a second time onto a piece of scrap card, cut out some of the leaves individually and then added to the stamped leaves for further dimension.
For further interest I added an Art Parts Sentiment Spot to the top of my aperture which I coloured with wild honey Distress Ink, adding gold Paint Dabber to the edges. I stamped "Once Upon A Time" onto the Sentiment Spot using black Archival Ink, I thought this was perfect combined with the fairy tale images of Wendy and Peter. I cut a tiny tag from white card using the Tiny Tabs and Tags die, stamped "NEVERLAND" onto the tag, added some red twine and adhered to the top of my card. To add further dimension to my card I framed the image with a square frame cut from card, adding five layers to give depth.
I coloured my image with Distress Markers and added a little colour to the aperture with Distress Inks. I stamped "I do believe in fairies, I do, I do" onto white card, cut out, coloured with wild honey ink, adding fired brick to the edges and placed at the bottom of the aperture, adding a couple of mini flowers which I kept from some Christmas wrapping (I do love to recycle where I can). I also added some vellum flowers, adding red buttons and twine to  the centres.
I stamped the text WENDY AND PETER onto white card, coloured with Distress Inks and added to the bottom of my frame.  I added a butterfly stamped onto white card using Wendy Vecchi's Art For You stamp set, colouring the butterfly with Distress Inks, stamping twice, adding one image on top of the other for added dimension. I added a heart button to the top of my butterfly to echo the red throughout my creation.
