Celebrating a Hero

What hero inspires you? Why not pay tribute to your hero in your artwork this week! Yes our challenge this time around at Simon Says Stamp and Show is CHEERS FOR A HERO, we would love to see your artistic tributes.

As soon as I saw the hero challenge I knew that I had to use the Charles and Amelia plate from Artistic Outpost.
I admire anyone who follows their dreams and that is exactly what the famous aviators Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart did, accomplishing flights across the Atlantic Ocean. Charles was the first pilot to fly solo and Amelia was the second person in the world to make the journey by air.  I used the fabulous riveted patchwork technique from Tim's A Compendium Of Curiosities Volume ll to give the perfect industrial feel for my aviation tag.
I added my aviator to a bottle cap coloured with ginger alcohol ink, sponging the image with vintage photo Distress Ink. For further interest I added FLY AROUND WORLD to the top of the tag along with wings for further dimension, again coloured with alcohol ink. To add to the masculine feel I also included screw brads to one side and the top of my tag. I also added a household bracket to the top to enable me to hang my tag from some rusty chain.
I stamped my second aviator onto a circular piece of card, coloured with vintage photo Distress Ink, adding black soot to the edges. I added yet another wing, adding 'fly' to the top, perfect embellishement for an aviation tag.
A small tag has also been added, embossed with the stencil texture fade and sanded with a little wire wool. I matted the small tag onto a piece of black Bazzill card to lift from the background. I love the fabulous sentiment from the Artistic Outpost set, again stamped onto white card and aged with vintage photo ink.  I love the wheel that I have added at the bottom of my tag (this was a lovely gift from my blogging buddy and fellow DT member Suzz). I coloured my wheel to blend with my tag and to age a little and added a mini gear to the centre.
To add to the vintage, aged feel I also added some natural twine to the large and small tag. From this angle you can also see the fabulous texture and interest in the background, I love it.
For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog and take a look at my fellow team members they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated.  Enjoy your week. Tracy x x
