Tim Holtz Technique

Hi all, hope you are enjoying your Easter break and not over indulged too much on those eggs.  Why not take a well earned break and get a little creative with our challenge this week which is to show a Tim Holtz technique, so many to choose from, I had difficulty in picking just one so decided on FOUR!  Simon Says Stamp and Show would love to see your creations using one or many of Tim's techniques.
I'm on  my adventures again this week, this time in a HOT AIR BALLOON using not one but four of Tim's techniques; rusted enamel, chipped enamel, altered metal with paint and dimensional collage fragments.  With a little help from Tim's Remnants set, London Underground and Odds and Ends set. Throw into the mix plenty of Nostalgic Tissue Tape and butterscotch Color Wash and we are ready for take off!

My balloon is a polystyrene egg which I covered in tissue paper to give texture and coloured with butterscotch color wash, applying the colour several times in some areas to give darker patches, giving an aged feel to the balloon.

My basket is from a Configuration Box which I applied the rusted enamel technique to, adding Nostalgic Tissue Tape to the top edge. From this angle you can see I have used the chipped enamel technique on a Keyhole adding yet more texture and dimension to my piece.  I also added a Light Bulb to one corner. The inside of my basket has been decorated with the background stamp from the Remnants set.
My handsome gentleman is from the Art Parts For The Guys set, stamped with the coordinating image from the Steampunk Art set and coloured with broken china Distress Ink. For a little more interest I added a jump ring to his jacket adhered with Glossy Accents.

This side of my basket shows a philosophy tag which I applied the altered metal with paint technique, I thought WANDER was ideal for my adventurous piece. I also added the Union Jack from the Artistic Outpost London Underground set, coloured with Distress Stains fired brick and faded jeans. My traveller would not be complete without his flag.

The final technique I used was dimensional collage fragments using papers from the Lost and Found Paper Stash along with a little Film Strip Ribbon which has the word "fly" stamped with black Archival Ink from the
Artistic Outpost Charles & Amelia set.
I added some numbered Game Pieces to the top of my balloon and to one of the sides of my basket and from this angle you can see the great aged feel you get from the rusted enamel technique.

Gold wire held into place with Screw Eyes was then added to complete my flying balloon along with the sentiment from the Odds and Ends set.

For more great ideas please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog and take a look at my fellow team members they have created some inspirational projects. Remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment, much appreciated.  Enjoy your week. Tracy x x
