Altered Alice Chapter 14 Challenge, Week 1 - Splendidly Dressed

Wow I cannot believe another month has passed by and we are here again with our monthly challenge at The Altered Alice .

"After a time she heard a little pattering of feet in the distance, and she hastily dried her eyes to see what was coming. It was the White Rabbit returning, splendidly dressed, with a pair of white kid gloves in one hand and a large fan in the other: he came trotting along in a great hurry, muttering to himself as he came, `Oh! the Duchess, the Duchess! Oh! won't she be savage if I've kept her waiting!'"-- Chapter 2; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

April has arrived, which (in the northern hemisphere) brings thoughts of wearing your Sunday springtime best and perhaps donning an Easter bonnet! So we want you to show us your Sunday best; ruffles, ribbons, lace, frills; however you want to interpret the challenge!

The design team is so excited about showing off the brand new Wonderland Perfectly Clear™ Stamps from our sponsor, Stampendous (Website | Blog). This Alice is all dressed up from her shining shoes to the top of her hat, not to mention her frilly parasol! We will have THREE winners this month, and they will each receive the same Wonderland stamp set the Design Team is using!

Stampendous has been a leading manufacturer of craft rubber stamps and accessories for over 30 years. With a wide variety of images, all drawn by artist/owner Fran Seiford, Stampendous has something to appeal to any stamper, scrapbooker, or home décor crafter! With the new Fran•táge Collection of stamps and essential accessories, Fran has embraced the vintage, collage look that is so popular in crafts today. The Wonderland Perfectly Clear™ Stamps Set is part of this collection and coordinates beautifully with the new vintage Embossing Enamels, Crushed Glass Glitters, Mica Fragments and Color Fragments in the Fran•táge Essentials. You can find Stampendous products at your local craft retailer or on the web at www.stampendous.com. Hundreds of ideas from Stampendous artists, an active Design Team, and fans world wide can be seen on the Stampendous Impressions Blog as well as on their Facebook Page and Flickr Group. I decided to decorate an egg and create a coordinated card this month using the fabulous images from Stampendous.  I began by decorating the outside of my egg with pages from an Alice in Wonderland book which I then coloured with Distress Ink broken china.  I also added a lace trim to the outside to match the lace trim on Alice's dress.
From this angle you can just make out the vintage papers on the outside.  I also added one of Tim's Curio Knobs to the bottom of the egg for decoration.
The inside has been painted with picket fence Distress crackle paint which I thought was perfect for an egg. I then rubbed a little broken china ink into the cracks and around the edges of my egg.
Alice has been painted with Distress Ink broken china and I have added a lace trim to her dress which I have hand sewn into place.  To add to my scene I have also added three eggs to the inside, again covered with papers from an Alice in Wonderland book and coloured with a little broken china ink. The rabbit, hearts and pocket watch have been added to add further interest to my scene.
I have added a dimensional flower to the top of my egg cut from pages of an Alice in Wonderland book using the Mini Tattered Floral Set.  A mini bottle top with the letter 'A' for Alice has been added to the centre.  Dangling from the centre of the egg is a small tag with DRINK ME engraved.
For the finishing touch I have cut a banner from white card and stamped the sentiment "Sorry, I'm late..."
As I was on a roll I decided to create a coordinated card, adding black mesh to the background, again colouring the edges with Distress Ink broken china and adding a little machine stitching for further interest. Metal heart corners have also been added as I always associate hearts with Alice.
Vintage lace has been hand sewn onto Alice's dress and I have paper pieced the dress using paper from Tim's Vintage Shabby paper stash, Alice is definitely in her Sunday best. She also has a red hat and shoes, painted with Distress Ink fired brick.
A letter 'A' has been added for further interest along with the rabbit and his pocket watch and hearts to one edge of my card, again stamped onto the Vintage Shabby paper stash. To complete I have added an Idea-ology watch face which I thought was the perfect embellishment for the sentiment "Sorry, I'm late....".

Add your entries to the Linky Tool at The Altered Alice  by Friday, April 27. All entries are welcome but Alice in Wonderland entries are encouraged and will receive two chances at the drawing instead of one. Multiple entries are great but each must be on a separate post.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. Tracy x x
