A Delicious Recipe........

............of Torn Edges, Distress Inks, Button and Wings for Simon Says Stamp and Show.

I decided on decorating an old vintage tin for this weeks piece. Torn Edges check, in the form of torn vintage papers from on old book. Distress Inks check, in the form of brushed corduroy and vintage photo. Button check, from Tim's Accoutrements Buttons. Wings check, using the Heart Wings die. With a little help from Wendy Vecchi from A Form Of Art and It's Face Art, along with the Sewing Room die and Gadget Gears die.
I cut the dress form from grey board along with the gadget gears, mini gears and wings covered with kitchen towel, adhering with PVA glue an idea inspired from HERE. Once the kitchen towel was dry I applied a couple of coats of Claudine Hellmuth Traditional Tan paint and allowed to dry.  Once dry I applied Distress Ink brushed corduroy, vintage photo and highlights of black soot to the raised areas. The kitchen towel adds great texture to the tin and really adds to that aged feel. I added some Idea-ology sprocket gears for added dimension along with an Accoutremens Button. The sentiment seemed the perfect finishing touch for the front of my tin.
From this angle you can really see the texture the kitchen towel gives and the dimension from the die cuts.
The inside of the tin has grey board covered with torn pieces from a vintage book which I have adhered with Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium Matt, painting some of the medium to the top of the torn pieces. I then applied brushed corduroy ink to the torn paper and the white areas are where the glue resists the ink and gives a great background. Random stitching has been added to the outside edges. I then cut a crown from paper using the Mini Crown and Fleur Set Alterations die and used as a stencil, applying vintage photo ink through the stencil onto the torn paper. I stamped the bodice from the A Form Of Art set of stamps with coffee Archival Ink onto white card and sponged with a little brushed corduroy ink and added to the torn paper. I added the head from It's Face Art, again stamped with coffee Archival Ink onto white card and coloured with brushed corduroy ink and added to the top of my bodice.  A small crown adds that finishing touch along with a button to the centre of the bodice with added Bakers Twine. The opposite side has been decorated in the same way but this time has the Queen from It's Face Art added along with her eye added to three bottle caps to give more dimension. I have dangled three Philosophy Tags from the top of my tin for added interest secured with Hitch Fasteners.
The back of my tin has had the same treatment as the front adding gadget gears and mini gears to complement the front.

Please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog and take a look at my fellow team members they have created some inspirational projects and remember there is also the chance to win a $50 prize from Simon Says Stamp.  I always look forward to seeing your creations each week.
