Wander without a reason or purpose.

I am showcasing the Wander and Dream stamp set from Artistic Outpost today.
To begin I cut three layers of card, placed each layer together, holding in place with low tack tape. I die cut a circle from white paper, removed the circle and placed the aperture onto the white card. I die cut a small circle of scrap paper and placed that into the aperture, to act as a mask.  I tore a piece of scrap paper lengthways placed this piece onto the aperture and sponged Wild Honey Distress Ink over the edges. I then removed the torn paper and moved it up the aperture, inking as I went along. I repeated this process until I had what appear like mountains in the background of the aperture. I then removed the circular die cut piece and lightly sponged a touch of ink over the circle. With the three layers of card still in place I placed the Rays Layering Stencil onto the layers of card and sponged Distress Ink over the stencil, adding ink over the three pieces of card. I used Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and a touch of Fired Brick. I repeated these steps on both sides of the card, I then removed the stencil and separated the three layers and matted each piece onto a piece of black card, leaving a very narrow border.
I stamped the cactus into the aperture using Potting Soil Archival Ink and I added the sentiment also stamped with Archival Ink.
I love how the stencilled rays blend over the three pieces of card. For added interest I also included delicate splatters of paint to the background.
I die cut a small suitcase from white card, crumpled the die cut to add creases and then coloured with Distress Inks, adding more depth of colour to the creases to add to the aged feel. I then stamped the focal image onto the suitcase using Potting Soil Archival Ink. I also added the sentiment DREAM BIG along with a Remnant Rub.
I die cut two layers of the suitcase and adhered them together to make a dimensional suitcase.

DREAM BIG

It's time for my weekly post for Artistic Outpost and today I am focusing on the Wander and Dream stamp set.
I placed a circular piece of paper in the centre of my card to act as a mask. I then added Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade to the Stripes Layering Stencil, simply press the inkpads directly onto the stencil and then spritz with water. Lay the Stencil onto the card and dab with a piece of kitchen towel and then remove and dry with a heat tool. Repeat to add detail to the whole of the background.
I then began work on the central aperutre, applying Wild Honey and a touch of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink the the circular area. I used Wendy Vecchi's Frames to create this and placed the mask over the background area to mask off my coloured background.
I stamped the gent into the centre of my aperture using Black Archival Ink, stamped him once again onto scrap paper, cut it out and then used this as a mask. Witth the mask in place I then stamped the desert in the background. I then added the sentiment 'DREAM BIG'again from the Wander and Dream stamp set.
I added delicate paint splatters to the central aperture using Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint and I then added scratchy lines to the background by simply pressing my acrylic block onto my Black Archival Inkpad and then pressing onto the card. I love adding layers to my designs.

New Release From Artistic Outpost

We have a fabulous new release from Artistic Outpost, two stamp sets, Wander and Dream and Springtime. I have created two cards to showcase each set.
The focal image and sentiment used on my first card are from the Springtime stamp set. I began by cutting a piece of black card 4.5" x 6.5" and then die cutting two circles from the black card, die cutting so that the circle cut off the edge of the card in both places.
I then cut a piece of white card 4.5" x 6.5" and then coloured the white card with Color Bursts in Lemon Yellow and Orange and I then adhered the black card to the coloured piece and then stamped the focal image into the die cut area. I also added random machine stitching to add a further layer of interest along with a banner with the word PLAY added.
For further interest I also included two Flashcards, sanded each one and then coloured with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and then stapled into place.
I added the sentiment to the second cut out area and then matted my completed design onto a piece of orange and black card stock.
I will have more projects for you over the next few weeks with both sets.
My next card is using the Wander and Dream stamp set and again the desert dictated my colour scheme really, I could not resist but to go for a hot bold colour palette. I began with a blank acrylic block, applied Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink to the block, spritzed with water and then pressed the block onto a piece of white card and then cut out. The block was appoximately 3" x 5".
I then stamped the desert onto the coloured background using second generation stamping and I then added the cowboy to the left of the desert scene.
I placed Tim Holtz Rays Layering Stencil onto my design and added a burst of rays to the background to add a further layer of interest. I then added the sentiment to the top of my design stamped with Archival Ink and added the word WANDER to the bottom of my design.
My fellow team members have created wonderful pieces to inspire you along the new release hop. Thanks so much for popping by. Tracy x x
