Welcome to my weekly post for Artistic Outpost and today I am using the fabulous Springtime stamp set once again.

I cut a piece of card 5" x 5", spritzed with water and then brayered over the surface lightly with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Paint. I then ran my brayer through a small amount of Fired Brick Distress Paint and brayered lightly over the card, making sure both layers are still visible.

I then added a further layer, applying Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink through a stencil and a few touches of the same stencilling but with Black Soot Distress Ink. I stamped the two children onto the card with Black Archival Ink and then stamped them a second time onto a separate piece of card, cut them out and then added to the card, this gives a shadow to the image by stamping the image in the background first.

I thought the 'Friendship' sentiment from the Skating Emporium stamp set was perfect for this card. I also added a few delicate splatters of Fired Brick Distress Paint for added interest.

I coloured their faces with a Distress Marker and added a few more splatters.

I also included some stamping and stencilling to the inside of the card.

Springtime Joy

Welcome to my weekly post for Artistic Outpost; this week I am using the fabulous Springtime stamp set.

I was aiming for a clean fresh feel to this weeks card using subtle tones of blue ink; in this case Broken China Distress Ink.

I die cut a circle from a piece of white card 4.5" x 6.5", placing the circle over the edge of the card and then running through my die cutting machine.  I wanted to use this aperture area to showcase my sentiment which has been stamped onto a smaller circle and shaded with Broken China Distress Ink.

I added clouds to the background, adding only a touch of Broken China Ink. I also added some random machine stitching and delicate splatters of paint to the background; I wanted to add layers of interest but nothing too overpowering as I wanted the clouds to be clearly visible.

I stamped the focal image with Black Archival Ink, masked off the image and then added the fence behind. I also machine stitched around the card for added texture.

Play in the rain with me

I have revisited an old technique today which I have not used in a long time, the BOKEH technique.

I have created a duo of cards today showcasing the fabulous Springtime stamp set from Artistic Outpost. I looked on-line to check exactly what is meant by the Bokeh Effect and this is the explantion that was given:

Bokeh is the official name for a specific photography effect. The name actually comes from the Japanese word for blur or haze: boke. It also comes from the Japanese word for blur quality: boke-aji. All you need to know is that bokeh is the aesthetic quality of out-of-focus blur in a photograph.

I began both cards by applying Distress Inks to the background. The one on the left had two colours applied to a non-stick craft sheet, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks, which I then spritzed with water and I then mopped up the beads of ink. The second card was blended with Broken China Distress Ink.

Once I had achieved the desired depth of colour I then created my own template, die cutting several different sized circles from white card. I then placed the template onto the card and applied Glacier White pigment ink over the stencil, one circle at a time., moving the template around the card, applying ink through three different sized circles and overlapping the circes in some areas. I then heat dried the ink with a heat tool.

I also applied more Glacier White ink to some of the circles to achieve different depths of the same ink. To add further interest I also added some random machine stitching and the perfect sentiment from the Springtime stamp set.

I repeated the same technique on my second card  and stamped two of the sentiments into the inked circles.

Once again I added random machine stitching for added interest.

Spring's greatest Joy!

I cannot believe another week has flown by, where is the year going!! Today is my weekly post for Artistic Outpost and today I am showcasing the fabulous Springtime stamp set.

I created an aperture in the centre of my card to showcase the fabulous imagery. I applied some scribbles of drawing gum to the centre and allowed to dry. I then coloured the central area with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink and also added a touch of Brilliant Red Brusho, spritzed lightly with water and dried with my heat tool. I then rubbed away the drawing gum to reveal the white scribbles, love this technique!

I stamped the two children with Black Archival Ink, masked off the image and then stamped the ornate fence.

I added a few delicate splatters of Fired Brick Distress Paint for a further layer of interest and also included the fabulous sentiment from the Springtime stamp set. Scratchy paint lines have also been added for a touch of texture.

 I have also decorated the inside of my card with the focal image and a few paint splatters and scratches.

Spring's Greatest Joy

Welcome to my weekly post for Artistic Outpost and today I am using the fabulous SPRINGTIME stamp set.

I created a matchbox and coordinated accordion card.

My aim was to create a bright cheery piece created using Color Bursts Orange and Lemon Yellow, I love the pop of colour these give to my design.

I added Tissue Tape to the matchbox and a coordinated bead used as the pull for the drawer, attached to ribbon, again coloured with Color Bursts. I also added some random stitching to my design along with a few Remnant Rubs. The 'Spring' sentiment is from the Springtime stamp set. I stamped the focal image using Black Archival Ink.

The accordion fits perfectly into the matchbox and again I have added random stitching and Remnant Rubs for added interest.

I love the ornate fence on this stamp set and I decided to repeat stamp along the length of the accordion. I also added the sentiment from the Springtime Set, cut up and outlined with black pen.

I also added a few delicate splatters to the background for added interest.

Delicate paint splatters have also been added to the accordion.

Artistic Outpost Monthly Blog Hop

Time for our monthly blog hop with Artistic Outpost and this month it is a Designers Choice.

I decided to create a piece with the newly released Springtime stamp set onto a mixed media background.

The background has been coloured with Distress Inks Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade, applied to a non-stick craft sheet, spritzed with and then mopped up with the card and dried with a heat tool. I also then dabbed the card back into any remaining ink  and dried once again.

I also added the farm in the background from the Country Life stamp set, stamped in black Archival Ink. I also included painty circles and scratchy lines using Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick Distress Paint for added layers of interest.

I added a few delicate splatters of Distress Paint, Black Soot and Worn Lipsick and added the sentiment from the Springtime stamp set.

New Release From Artistic Outpost

We have a fabulous new release from Artistic Outpost, two stamp sets, Wander and Dream and Springtime. I have created two cards to showcase each set.

The focal image and sentiment used on my first card are from the Springtime stamp set. I began by cutting a piece of black card 4.5" x 6.5" and then die cutting two circles from the black card, die cutting so that the circle cut off the edge of the card in both places.

I then cut a piece of white card 4.5" x 6.5" and then coloured the white card with Color Bursts in Lemon Yellow and Orange and I then adhered the black card to the coloured piece and then stamped the focal image into the die cut area. I also added random machine stitching to add a further layer of interest along with a banner with the word PLAY added.

For further interest I also included two Flashcards, sanded each one and then coloured with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and then stapled into place.

I added the sentiment to the second cut out area and then matted my completed design onto a piece of orange and black card stock.

I will have more projects for you over the next few weeks with both sets.

My next card is using the Wander and Dream stamp set and again the desert dictated my colour scheme really, I could not resist but to go for a hot bold colour palette. I began with a blank acrylic block, applied Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink to the block, spritzed with water and then pressed the block onto a piece of white card and then cut out. The block was appoximately 3" x 5".

I then stamped the desert onto the coloured background using second generation stamping and I then added the cowboy to the left of the desert scene.

I placed Tim Holtz Rays Layering Stencil onto my design and added a burst of rays to the background to add a further layer of interest. I then added the sentiment to the top of my design stamped with Archival Ink and added the word WANDER to the bottom of my design.
