Texturised Heart and Messy Fingers!

It's time to get MESSY with Simon Says Stamp and Show this week. Whether you use your ink spray, Distress Stains, splatter paint or drip paint, tear paper, we would love to see your interpretation of this weeks challenge. Roll up those sleeves and let's get messy for the sake of our art!

I got in touch with my messy side to create and inky background to showcase my textural heart.

To say I created a mess for the love of my art this week is an understatement; my fingers were covered in ink and glue and so is my garden table! I sprayed my inks outside on my garden table so that I could go mad and spray to my heart's content, using vibrant turquoise and melted chocolate Dylusions Spays. Adding into the mix a little sea salt, well if you are going to make a mess you may as well go the whole hog right. After mopping up my mess I began again this time with the textural heart cut from card using Wendy Vecchi's Stencils for Art Large Heart and covering in kitchen towel, hence fingers now covered in glue. It's so invigorating to just let loose now and then.

I love the background using sea salt, this is an old technique which I have not used in a while but I will be using again, it gives a fabulous mottled effect.  I simply sprayed my watercolour card with vibrant turquoise and melted chocolate ink and whilst the ink was still wet I applied the sea salt and then left to dry. It is important to remember to apply the salt to wet ink. I loved the perforated trims on the watercolour card so I simply cut those from the top of the paper and added to my card for further interest. I also added red machine stitching around the edges to bring in the red from the heart. I added Memo Pins to add the word HEART to the bottom of my card.

I cut a heart from thick card using Wendy Vecchi's stencil and then applied kitchen towel to the top of the heart. I simply scrunched up the paper and then adhered using a mixture of PVA and water. Once completely dry I then sprayed with vibrant turquoise and postbox red Dylusions sprays. I then added a little gold Paint Dabber to the raised areas to add a touch of opulence. I added a keyhole to the centre of my heart, again coloured with gold Paint Dabber. A heart cut from white card using Simon Says large heart craft die, coloured with postbox spray has been added to the top corner of my heart, adding a Chitchat sticker to the top.

Two further hearts have been added to the bottom corner again cut using the Simon Says large heart craft die. I have also added more strips of the perforated card from the top of my sheet of watercolour card, stapled into place using the tiny attacher. I have also dangled a key from my heart attached with jump rings.
