Gardening Gift

Welcome to my weekly post for Artistic Outpost. Today I am showcasing one of my favourite stamps; Seed Packets Background, available from Our Daily Bread Designs.
I thought I would create a gift idea this week; a seed box which would house seed cards and seeds for the recipient to plant. I began by die cutting the Seed Box using Eileen Hull's Recipe Box Sizzix Die and coordinated Recipe Cards.
I coloured the seed box with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Inks; applying the inks to a piece of recylced plastic and then pressing the ink covered plastic onto the die cut piece and then drying with a heat tool. I applied one colour at a time until I was happy with the coverage. The coordinated cards were also coloured in exactly the same way.
I stamped the front of the seed box with the Seed Packets Background stamp using Potting Soil Archival Ink which adds further to the aged vintage feel.
I added one of Wendy Vecchi Matt Minis which I coloured with Orange Blossom Archival Embossing Powder to create a Terracotta pot. Whilst the melted powder was hot I used one of the background stamps from the Grunge Elements stamp set and stamped into the hot powder which added further to the aged pot appearance. When I added the embossing powder to the pot I removed some of the powder from around the edges and then once the melted powder was cool I then coloured the edges with Potting Soil Archival Ink to add further to the ageing. I stamped the back of the seed cards with the Grunge Elements stamps.
Each card was stamped with the Seed Packets Background stamp, which I inked with Fern Green and Potting Soil Archival Inks.
I added a plant label to the terracotta pot which I stamped with part of the imagery from the Seed Packets Background. The plastic plant labels were coloured with Citrus Alcohol Ink. I also added a plant label to the lid of the box and added some random stamping using the background stamp from the Grunge Elements stamp set. The wording 'Harvest', 'Plant' and 'Seeds' are from the Harvest stamp set. I applied Vintage Photo Distress Ink to all the edges.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Tracy x x

  2. Absolutely WONDERFUL Tracy. I just showed your creativity to my ranch hand that does all the gardening work and she was delighted. She couldn't believe you "made" such lovelies and thought it was a SUPER idea. So you are a hit here at the ranch today and of course, a hit in my heart every time I visit. XXj.
