New Release from Artistic Outpost

We have some fabulous new releases this week from Artistic Outpost. All the details can also be seen on the Artistic Outpost Blog.

My first piece is created using the fabulous Vintage Fashion stamp set, a trio of pieces with a real vintage feel to them; each one coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I created two small suitcases using Eileen Hull's Suitcase die which I coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Ink; applying the ink to a non-stick craft sheet and then picking up the ink with the die cut and then drying with a heat tool. I then dipped the die cut into any remaining ink and dried once again. Vintage Photo Distress Ink was then applied to the edges to darken and add definition.

The bodice was then stamped onto each of the Suitcases using Black Archival Ink and I also added background stamping using the text stamp from the Vintage Fashion stamp set using Ground Espresso Distress Ink.

I created an accordion which fits inside the Suitcase, again coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I stamped the focal images with Black Archival Ink and then overstamped with the background stamp using Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I also included some random machine stitching for added interest.

Circles have also been included using the top from one of my paints; applying paint to the lid and then stamping with the lid. Each circle was then painted with Titanium White DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic and dried with a heat tool. I then applied colour to each of the circles using my Gelatos, blending with my finger. Stamping has also been added inside each circle.

I love using stamps, inks and paints to add several layers of interst to my pieces and the machine stitching adds a touch of texture.

The second of the new releases is "Go Team"

I continued with the vintage theme again using Vintage Photo Distress Ink but this time I applied the Distress Ink to a piece of acetate, spritzed lightly with water and then dabbed the acetate onto my card. Using the Distress Inks this way means I can apply the Ink exactly where I want it and still achieve that watercolour effect. I then dried the ink with a heat tool.

I stamped the focal image with Black Archival Ink and then applied Raw Sienna DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic to a paint lid and stamped the lid over the focal image. I then added shading to the circle using a Gelato.

I added 'TOUCHDOWN' to the bottom of my card and also included some scratchy lines with an old credit card using Raw Sienna Fluid Acrylic and added delicate paint splatters using Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic.

The third and final release for this quarter is "Toy Emporium" and I will be showcasing this stamp set over the coming weeks so stay tuned!

Eileen Hull Art With Heart Challenge

This month the team are combining Graphic 45 Papers with the fabulous Eileen Hull dies and the challenge theme for our Art with Heart Challenge is October Hauntings and Holiday Calendar.

This month I was inspired by Eileen Hull's paper trail; she is visiting many places in her own Trailer and demonstrating to many shops all over the USA. I thought I would create my own Halloween Travel Trailer combined with the Book, Passport.

I began by die cutting the Passport Book from mountboard which I had covered with the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities Papers. The front cover has also had a niche cut from the centre using Tim Holtz Sized Arches and I added shading to all the edges with Ground Espresso Distress Ink.

I added a Prima mini magnifying glass to the skeleton's face on the inside of my aperture and created a box to fit at the back to create a niche that would house my skeleton's and clay bony  hand. The mini plastic skeletons and clay bony hand were painted with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics; first painting each piece with Titan Buff, drying with a heat tool and then adding a wash of Carbon Black and Quinacridone Gold mixed with water and once again drying with a heat tool. I also included a small Tim Holtz Heirloom rose which I again coloured with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics and added to one of the bony fingers. I die cut "Rare Oddities" from the Graphic 45 paper using a Tim Holtz Thinlits Label, again adding shading with Distress Ink around the edges. To add a touch more texture I machine stitched the front and back cover to the spine.

I added three sets of pages all decorated with Graphic 45 paper and all the edges shaded with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I think Eileen's Passport Book would be perfect to add pictures to from your Halloween Celebrations that you could then look at year after year.

I added BOO to the top of my book using Alpha Parts along with a few white Remnant Rubs for added interest. I also nestled a die cut bat, which I cut from book pages and then used Fimo Liquid to do an image transfer of the text page. The Fimo Liquid dries clear when baked in the oven and gives a 3D like appearance.

The die cut Trailer has also been covered with Rare Oddities paper and I have added a metal strip across the trailer for added interest and die cut windows from the Trailer using Tim Holtz Mini Openings Set. I then added little wood strips to the windows to give a type of log cabinn feel and added skulls to the windows which were once again coloured with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics.

I added wood strips/twigs to the top of the trailer, once again to add to the log cabin type of feel and I also added three plastic skulls which I painted with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics. The outside areas of the trailer were painted with DecoArt Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic. I also added Label Letters to add "Halloween Trail" to the Trailer and then applied a coat of DecoArt Matte Medium to protect all the areas.

Adventure Awaits

Morning, hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We have another fabulous challenge for you over at the Love to Create Challenge Blog where the theme is Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes.

I decided to opt for a masculiine card this week using my favourite PanPastels, the Metallics.

I cut a panel from black card and then embossed with an embossing folder. I then applied VersaMark Ink directly to the embossed card and then dabbed the card with Rich Gold, Light Gold, and Bronze PanPastels and then blended with a PanPastel Art Sponge, adding more PanPastels as desired until I achieved the depth I required. I then added Silver PanPastel lightly over the embossed raised areas and then sprayed lightly with hairspray to seal the Pastels.

I die cut a Pocket Watch Frame from white card and then coloured the die cut piece with Vintage Photo Distress Inl, applying the ink directly to a non-stick craft sheet and then spritzing with water and mopping up the beads of ink with the die cut and then drying with a heat tool. I then dabbed the die cut piece into any remaining ink to add a further layer and then once again dried with a heat tool. PanPastel  Black Coarse Pearl Medium was applied around the edges of the die cut for definition. Numbers were stamped onto the background of the die cut piece using a background stamp from Tim Holtz Merchantile Stamp Set, using Vintage Photo Distress Ink, for a tone on tone effect. I then stamped the focal image with Black Archival Ink. I added a Monocle for added interest along with a found token and Remnant Rubs. I also included two old rusty pen nibs for further interest.

Rusty wire has been added around the outside edge of the die cut piece and stapled into place. I also included Tissue Tape added randomly around the background.

Joyeux Noel

Today I have my weekly post for Artistic Outpost.

I thought I would get a head start on a couple of Christmas Cards so today I am showcasing one of my favourites the Snowy Woods stamp set. The background of the card has been brayered lightly with Fired Brick and Tarnished Brass Distress Paints; the Tarnished Brass gives a touch of shimmer to the backdrop. I dried the layers of paint with a heat tool.

I die cut two hearts from scrap card, placed the hearts onto the background and applied Permanent Red PanPastel over the heart die cut and I then stamped the focal images into each of the hearts using Black Archival Ink, adding touches of white with a wax crayon. I also added the sentiment from the Snowy Woods stamp set to one of the hearts. I added twine across my card, securing in place using the Tiny Attacher. I added the sentiment on top of the twine. To add a further layer of interest I added delicate splatters of Tarnished Brass Paint to the background.

Touches of stencilling have been added using the Tim Holtz Stars Layering stencil, firstly applying Crackle Paste over the stencil and then adding more stencilled stars using Fired Brick Distress Ink to give a tone on tone effect.

Live Your Dream With Passion

Morning, hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We have another fabulous challenge for you over at the Love to Create Challenge Blog where the theme is Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes.

 I began by decorating the background with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Cobalt Turquoise Hue and Cobalt Teal Hue, applying with a baby wipe to blend the colours and then drying with a heat tool.

I then placed a Prima stencil onto the background and applied PanPastels Permanent Red, Permanent Green and Turquoise Shade over the circles and I then gave a light spray with hairspray to fix the PanPastels. The stencil was then placed back over the background and I then applied DecoArt Crackle Paste randomly over the circles to add further texture to the background.

To add further layers to the background I added scratchy lines using an old credit card and DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Cadmium Red Hue and then dried with a heat tool.

I then tore a heart from scrap paper, adhered to card to make it a little more sturdy for any paint applied in the following step.. I then applied DecoArt Fluid Acrylic Titanium White as a base coat, this makes any colours applied in the next stages really pop. For the second layer I placed the Prima Stencil onto the heart and then applied DecoArt Media Crackle Paste over the stencil and set aside to dry. I then applied VersaMark Ink to the heart and then applied Permanent Red PanPastel over the heart, along with touches of Turquoise Shade PanPastel. I then added touches of DecoArt Media Fluid Acylic Cobalt Turquoise Hue along with delicate splatters.

I machine stitched through the centre of the hearts and added rusty wire around the outside edge for added texture and stapled into place. To complete, I added delicate splatters of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Cadmium Red Hue.

Birds of a Feather

I have my weekly post for Artistic Outpost today and I am showcasing the fabulous Birds of a Feather stamp set.

I began by colouring the background with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Cobalt Teal Hue and Yellow Green Light, blending with a babywipe.

I then added three circles using the top from one of my DecoArt Media products, applying Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic to the edges of the lid and then pressing the lid onto my background. Once the black paint was dry I then painted each of the circles with Titanium White Fluid Acrylic, this makes the colours applied on top really pop.

I then coloured each of the circles with Gelatos, adding black Gelato around the edges of the circles for definition. I then stamped the focal image from the Birds of a Feather stamp set along with the sentiment from the same set, stamping both with Black Archival Ink.

Touches of stencilling have been added using DecoArt Modelling Paste and the Tim Holtz Dot Fade Layering Stencil. I love the black of the focal image against the vibrant colour palette.

I would also like to enter this into the Emerald Creek Dares Challenge which  is their first ever challenge and they are having an 80's theme; I thought my neon colours were perfect. I wish you all the very best in your future Emerald Creek!
