BOARDWALK

I am showcasing the fabulous BOARDWALK plate once again from Artistic Oupost.
I created a backdrop with Distress Inks to give a warm summery glow to my card. I also flicked the Distressed background with water.
The fabulous beach huts were stamped with black Archival Ink onto another panel coloured with Distress Inks and then matted onto coordinated card.
I added the bathing beauties to the bottom of my card and paper pieced their costumes to cordinate with my background.
Bunting was added to the top of my card, coloured with Distress Ink and stamped with shells. I also added SUMMER using wooden letters.

Button Challenge

Our challenge with Simon Says Stamp and Show is a simple one this week, simply use a button in your project, you can use lots like me or one solitary button, the choice is yours.

A new button hair style was the key this week for my mixed media canvas.

As soon as we were given this challenge I knew I wanted to use the face from the Stampers Anonymous Classics 5 stamp set and give her a new hair style created with, yes you guessed it, buttons. I used lots of buttons from my collection but I also added some extra special ones from Prima Flowers Fairy Belle Wood Buttons . The background to my canvas has been given lots of textural interest using Wendy Vecchi's White Embossing Paste, Black Embossing Paste and Metallic Gold Embossing Paste. This piece is so tactile!
I began by covering my canvas board with texture adding White Embossing Paste through the Crafters Workshop Dina's Mini Letter Chaos stencil and once dry painting over the whole canvas with Mocha Mousse PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint, watering the paint down slightly. I decided on a warm tone so that when I applied my image on tissue paper her face would have a warm tone in the background.
I stamped the face image into a piece of tissue paper using black Archival Ink and adhered to the canvas using Multi-Medium Matt, applying a coat to the top of the image to protect, taking care not to rip the tissue. I then began the fun part of adhering a mix of buttons for her hair. Once I was happy with the arrangement I then painted over all the buttons with a coat of Gesso.
Once the canvas was completely dry I then sprayed with Dylusions Ink Sprays in Squeezed Orange, Calypso Teal and touches of Melted Chocolate. Once the inks were dry I then dry brushed Gesso over some areas to highlight.
I then added more of those special buttons from Prima, threading with a touch of black twine. I added touches of gold adding Metallic Gold Embossing Paste through the Crafters Workshop stencil.
I also added FRAGILE to my canvas using black Embossing Paste through Wendy Vecchi's Classic Words Stencil, adding to a couple of areas on my canvas for a further layer of interest. To highlight all the texture I have used I also applied Treasure Gold Olive Bronze Gilding Wax to all the raised areas and to the edges of my canvas.
For a little more interest and for a little metallic touch I also added some Prima Jeans Buttons, these add another layer of interest and texture to my canvas. From this angle you can also see the fabulous Treasure Gold Gilding Wax added to the buttons and Embossing Paste along with the highlights from the dry brushed Gesso.
To complete, I added some Label Letters to spell FRAGILE once again, added to the top right hand side of my canvas.

Floral Bouquet

I've created a card this week using the fabulous Spring Bouquet from 100 Proof Press.
I have used a panel of corrugated card and matt and layered onto black and kraft card to give a muted feel to my card and the corrugated cards adds fabulous texture and dimension.
A heart has been cut from white card, coloured with Distress Ink and flicked with water and then the Spring Bouquet has been stamped onto the heart with black Archival Ink.
I have added two small wooden hearts also stamped with the Spring Bouquet image and also added an arrow to the top for added interest.
The same stamping has been added to the opposite side of the card.
With love has been added to the top of my card along with a little stamping from the Spring Bouquet.

Thanks so much for stopping by, back to craft of a different kind for me, painting the spare bedroom. See you all soon. Tracy x x

Floral Silhouettes

We have a new stamp set this month from Creative Expressions, Floral Silhouette.
I created a tag, colouring the background with fired brick Distress Ink and flicking with water to add blotches to the backdrop.
I stamped the floral swirl with Versamark Ink and then sprinkled with white embossing powder. I then added a shadow stamping the same image with fired brick Distress Ink, giving a tone on tone effect.
The butterflies were added to give dimension and I also added Western Blue Polished Silk Glitter to the wings for further interest.
Pen nibs have been added to the bodies of the butterflies to add a little more interest and dimension along with some Remnants Rubs Numbers from Tim Holtz.

Boardwalk

I have used the newly released BOARDWALK plate from Artistic Outpost to create a card this week with lots of dimension.
My backdrop has been created with mowed lawn and salty ocean Distress Inks, one of my favourite colour palettes at the moment and I thought perfect for the BOARDWALK plate. I also spritzed the inks with water to give me a few splatters in the background for added interest.
I die cut the pocket watch and added several layers for dimension, stamping the central panel with the bathing beauties set against the Pier again coloured with Distress Inks.
I added lettering using wooden letters and Alpha Parts to add "Time For Summer" and added the stamped beauty at the bottom of my card.
Ball chain has been added to the pocket watch for further dimension and texture and "under the boardwalk down by the sea has been added to the top of the watch. I have also stamped BOARDWALK three times to the top corner .

Embossalicious Folders

Crafter's Companion have shows on the German Shopping Channel HSE 24 on June 11th showcasing the fabulous Die'sire Embossalicious Embossing Folders and I created a few samples for the shows.
My first card uses the gorgeous 6" x 6" Elegant Frame embossing folder which I have embossed onto Core'dinations card stock and sanded to reveal the core.
I added three wooden bird cages for dimension along with some natural twine and a small tag with the sentiment 'hello' added to the top.
I have also added a pewter bird cage charm which I coloured with ginger alcohol ink to coordinate with my card. Three wooden hearts have been added along with natural twine to the top of each cage.
I also added a large dimensional flower cut from white card using the Die'sire Camelia Quilling die, colouring the edges of the flower with Distress Ink.
My next sample for the shows is totally different, a real masculine steampunk feel to this piece using the Gun Metal embossing folder embossed onto metal and coloured with Alcohol Inks and then sanded with wire wool.
I added the focal image to a Scalloped Tag, coloured with brushed corduroy Distress Ink and flicked with water.
I added a smaller scalloped tag, stamped with text using black Archival Ink and added metal embellishments to cordinate along with two wooden moustaches.
Three small brass keys were added to the left had side of my card for further interest.

BIRD SONG

Simon Says Stamp and Show are asking you to be inspired by the letter 'S' this week. S could be for stamping, stains, stars, stencilling and so much more. Share a technique, title your scrapbook layout with a title beginning with 'S'. From shabby chic to stamped to a seaside theme, there is a great deal of inspiration from the letter 'S'.

Bird song was the inspiration for my dimensional piece.
The first thing that came to mind was bird song when I thought of the letter 'S' and of course stamping, being a rubber stamper it was the obvious choice. Hero Arts Timely Bird is my focal image showcased in a dimensional arch cut using the Arch Frame die and the coordinating Sized Arch die to create the frames. My colouring medium this week was PaperArtsy Mermaid Fresco Finish Paint. I also added some stencilled leaves using Wendy Vecchi's Lovely Leaves stencil along with White Embossing Paste.
To begin I cut my layers to create the dimensional arch and then painted each layer with Mermaid Fresco Finsih Paint.
I used one piece of the 7 Gypsies Tryptich Arch kit as a backdrop for my dimensional arch and added stencilled leaves to the edges and then set aside to dry.
I adhered all the layers to my arch together and added a layer of acetate adding a touch of stamping using the Hero Arts Timely Bird stamp to the acetate using black StazOn ink.
The bird has been stamped onto the bottom layer using black Archival Ink and the stamping on the acetate adds a shadow of the image in the foreground. I also stamped onto the top frame using parts of the same image.
I added some mini numbers to the arch along with Prima embellishments from the Sunrise Sunset Vintage Trinkets range and a rusty key to one edge of the frame.
BIRD SONG lettering has been added to my piece cut using the Block Talk Alphabet die and for further dimension I also included some Studio Calico wooden birds.
I painted over all my embellishments with a coat of Gesso and then added the Mermaid PaperArtsy Fresco Finsih Paint for the top coat.
To lift everything and highlight all the texture I rubbed over my piece with PaperArtsy Treasure Gold Olive Bronze Gilding Wax.
The Gilding Wax adds a lovely opulent feel to my piece and highlights all the fabulous texture ad dimension I have included.
